The Setting

As mentioned on the front page the entire role-play is set in Victorian London, mid 19th century. History will tell you that it was a quite peaceful time. Unknown to 98% of humanity, there is a society that lives it's life when the humans aren't looking. They live in and come from the Shadows, a term referring to any and all areas where normal mortals usually don't go. Everything supernatural originates from the Shadows. Sometimes one can feel their presence, but it is extremely rare to encounter one by chance.

Until now, the Shadow-walkers (everything from the Shadows) and the humans have peacefully co-existed, one avoiding the other and only making contact when absolutely necessary. For yet unknown reasons a virus has begun to spread in the Shadows, infecting only supernatural beings and turning them into aggressive beings without a consciousness. These monsters are attracted to fear and pain.

As a reaction, sane Shadow-walkers have begun to enter the public eye and to live side-by-side with humans, without revealing their identity. Shadow-walkers are everywhere, the average human just can't recognise them for what they are.
