welcome to little big town!
Welcome kiddos! You have made it through nearly the first week at Little Big Town, where the population is little but the dreams are big. Hopefully you've made yourself comfortable here, and hopefully you are talking with lots of people and roleplaying! I see a lot of you aren't, but after today, you are going to need to talk to more people. And why is that? This is not only a welcoming annoucement, but something you need to read for this week's event. It's quite exciting.
So, as you may have seen in our 'Town' section, if you read the description to the 'Town Hall' you may have noticed that the Town Hall holds monthly elections for this month's Mayor + Council. Well, as this is now our second week here, we now encourage you to participate in this election.
How it works is: you comment, you PM, you message ANY of the admins, and we then put you down for whatever position you plan on going to. You can become Mayor or a member of the council. There can only be one Mayor, and five council members. The Mayor will pick one council member as their 'Vice', meaning they will become Mayor if anything should happen to our beloved Mayor.
Once you have put down what you want to be, you will be put into the new room that will come up. The Election room, where the votes will be held up for your liking.
We encourage everyone to participate, as there is only but one rule to become any of these slots: you must be over 18 years old. However, to vote you can be any age (since we have a small population...). If you are, of course, busy, we have accomodated that you can still have these jobs and be busy. Though that does depend on how busy you are.
Mayors are to become a co-admin once joining. However, they do not need to fill out admin duties (it'd be nice if they did... though...) and they are the ones that will be searching over the RP and looking for either a new rule, a new function, or a new event. The Mayor will inform the admins within the Admin Room, and they will either add to it, or decline it there on the spot.
If you know politics in the real life, you may know of the Senate. The council is basically that. The Mayor will hand out a rule, a function or an event, and the council will look it over. They will vote as to whether it's a good idea, and the council will not be admins. You will be able to see the discussion of the new thing that will happen as it plays through or hours after, as it will be public. Council members do nothing else, just handle the new events, rules or functions.
This is basically a popularity competition, or you can take it like a real election. You can announce in the chatroom or wherever you like your promises to the town, and if the town likes your ideas, they will vote for you. This means you will have to talk to people, and possibly RP with them. Show them that you will be a great mayor and not a Donald Trump but that's up to them to decide.
All admins unless on hiatus, are required to nominate themselves to be either Mayor or a Council Member. If this is news to you I'm so sorry.
Voting will be happening from Friday-Saturday, and all nominees must be in by Thursday at midnight (GMT-8).
If you have read this, please answer this question: Are council members required to be admins after being elected or not? And have a wonderful week and please participate!
