By the third hour, the Great Hall was filled with joy and laughter, as if students and professors alike had forgotten the tragedy that preceeded that night. It was as if everyone was in their little world, in which was filled with snow, and glittering dresses and suits — a world full of bliss and contained none of the mourning and fear in the weeks before. It's clear that the winter wonderland had since become warm with festivities, with both students and professors dancing, talking, and dining with one another while donning cheerful smiles, as though Christmas truly did come that day.

 

Headmistress Minerva McGonagall, with a bright smile on her wise mien, had also indulged herself in celebration, talking amongst her staff and students to ensure that all had a chance to enjoy themselves. When the clock struck midnight, she had excused herself, just to step in the front of the room as she did in the first minute of the ball, to clear and gather the attention of all who were in that room.

 

❝ Attention, attention, everyone. It is time to announce the winner of the house cup. 

As you all know, our younger, lower division of students have until the next semester to find out who wins the house cup. However, for our university students, the time is now. 

For this year, due to the many unfortunate events that occurred, which we will not recap in detail for the sake of maintaining our spirit, the staff has decided to award the members of the winning house a trip to Paris, France for the entire winter break. You will have the joy of traveling via portkey with two supervisors: me and Professor Longbottom. 

 

We are fully aware that it is not exactly the best time to go on trips, what with the recent exposure of magic to the muggle world. Because of this, Beauxbatons Academy is willing to accomodate us for housing. 

 

Ah, yes. Let's not forget the winners of the best dressed contest! The best dressed male goes to Eleazar Azorra-Shin of Ravenclaw, and the best dressed female is Emilia Seong of Gryffindor! Congratulations to you both! You each get 5 points towards your house, just for having Christmas spirit!

Now, it is time. In fourth place, Hufflepuff, with 1,820 points. In third place, Gryffindor, with 1,910 points. In seconnd place, Ravenclaw, with 2,115 points. 

 

And in first place, with 2,135 points, Slytherin house! Well done, Slytherin! 

Now that that is done, you all still have one hour to dance! The open bar will be closed for the night, and we will no longer be serving food. 

You are more than welcome to return to your houses if you feel like you should tire for the night. Otherwise, thank you all for coming, and I hope you all have a wonderful holiday.  ❞

Congratulations to Slytherin for winning the house cup for the first term! For the past two months, you have shown your dedication to Magicians and your house by participating in events and getting an excellent grade on your exams! Well done! 

The Yule Ball festivities will be open for another day! We will close the ball tomorrow for new threads, but you will be more than welcome to finish current threads.
