regarding the date

So I've been seeing a lot of people post on Instawhoot and Whooter to the date August 29, which is completely fine!  The only reason why I (Emerald) posted with that date is because I wanted to set my post to before the semester usually starts, which is on September 1.  In saying that, I want to clarify that you do not have to follow the date I post.  I know it is a bit confusing because we haven't technically opened Magicians yet, so our place in the timeline is a little bit hazy.

I do want to say that I do not want you guys to feel like you are limited to a certain date, especially the ones that I post.  Your posts should be in whatever time in the school year (or before) that you think your character posted.  For example, if you wanted to make a post a little earlier in the summer, you can set it back to a later date. If you want to move it closer to the start of semester, say August 31, you totally can.  That is up to you.  But again, I could see why this would be confusing.

So, I wanted to ask this: would you guys prefer to leave the dates in the format for Instahoot and Whooter, or should we get rid of it altogether?

The admins want to make sure we avoid as much confusion as possible.  This rp is supposed to be relatively easy!  Please comment below your thoughts, and we will adjust based on what you guys have to say!

I think the dates won't be so necessary unless the thread has been going on for too long or the storyline is getting confusing, then it could be an optional choice to put in the month or detailed date.

i would rather there not be dates because it'd be difficult to keep track of consistently and there may be discrepancies between peoples' posts. i think there could maybe be a one or two day period of flexibility between posts if we do want to keep the date aspect, though.

i agree with the majority that having dates labeled on each posts might not be a good idea, especially since it might confuse newcomers when they arrive. also, if you guys still wanna keep the idea of having dates or keeping people updated on what week it is in character for magicians, i think a calendar under social owls would be useful!

I do agree with what the others said, that it might confuse those who aren't always around and aren't aware that the dates are flexible just like you intended it to be and probably some might feel constricted with how much they post as they wait for the days to pass, so removing it altogether would be better in my opinion.

though, the date might just also come as an optional detail instead? but this also just might make others hop on the train to add dates too and get confuse about the timeline again.

I like it for the storyline. but I can see how it could be confusing for some.
is it plausible to just make it optional?

I was wondering about the august 29th thing. I think it’s fine to leave it in for detail purposes but I can see how it can be confusing to some people.

I personally think it would be easier without the dates, simply because people could get confused by it. They might want to post smth that is not related to a specific event (for example just a cute picture they like) and it would be faster / simpler to post it without a date. I don't mind the dates but for simplicity I'd say without.

tbh same, thinking that i don't know how to identify the flow of time in here bc of my busy sched. i'd say we should remove it all together.

In my opinion, I believe we should get rid of it all together from instahoot and whooter. One of my reasons behind this is it looks confusing to look at and would make people think that its the same day as what was mentioned from the previous posts added in the room. Ex: August 29. People would add august 29 again unless someone would post a different day making the others follow.

i think it'd be easier without dates- i like the added context personally, but it may get confusing to some if people are posting on like, different timelines, esp if one post is set further in the future while the next post (posted in rpr time) is set further back. + i feel like most people use socmed rooms in an impulse post style (idk if this is the right phrasing, not trying to be rude) as in like, they will just post stuff related to what they're rping at the moment or what's going on in the rp at general at that time so they might not need the feature to elaborate on when this exact post is (bc they aren't going much in the past or future) but i'm not sure sdfgh just rambling, i'm personally fine either way but those issues may arise potentially is what i think
