» Character Rule Change
We noticed that I, the resident airhead head admin, forgot to change the additional character rules in the front page.  For that, I apologize.  We did change that rule since to better fit the activity requirements for this new version of Magicians. Instead of requiring a certain amount of points, we will be requiring you to have a certain number of threads.  To keep it simple, you are required two ongoing threads on your first character to request a second, and three ongoing threads on each of your current two characters to request a third.  An advertisement blog is required for both.

» Dates in Social Owls
After seeing the response in the previous announcement, Social Owls: Need Your Input, we decided to completely omit the dates from the formats in both Whooter and Instahoot.  We were thinking about making it optional, but considering the fact that we do not have a set way to tell time, having dates in every other post would confuse people that are not as active as others.  We apologize to those who did like the dates, but for the sake of making things as least confusing as possible, we found that it was better to leave the dates out altogether.  Which brings us to...

» About the Timeline
This is something that the admins have been going back and forth with, and have decided that it would be best to ask you guys what you think.  In the first version, we used big events to tell time.  This gave you guys flexibility to pace your threads to your liking, and place them wherever you see fit in the year.  With that being said, we thought about having a set pace or a way to move through time in character.  For example, we thought about having one day in real life time be equivalent to three days in in character.  There were some people that said they wanted events, especially to use as a marker or a kind of checkpoint for where we are in the rp, which was what we used in the original version of Magicians.  Other than that, we're a little stuck—what do you guys think?  Please leave a comment below telling us what you think about the two ideas, or if you have a different one in mind.  We would love to hear what you think!

» The Official Opening
The official opening date will be tomorrow on Friday, November 12 at around 8-9pm PST.  Magicians will be open officially, which means that you guys would be allowed to rp, and the rest of the site will be able to join!

I'd like a checkpoint event although I think we could extend the time in rp to maybe a week for longer event threads. Regarding private plots, I think they shouldn't be rushed and instead, the roleplayers decide the time the thread is set in. Of course, it shouldn't be too far away from the roleplay's original timeline. That's my input, but I'll follow whatever timeline that is decided in the end

the only idea I would have for (private or public) threads for instance is for writers to mention the time frame at the beginning of a thread. so if the thread is set back in spring (for instance), anyone who reads it will know. events are a hit or miss when it comes to threads. I like events just to have something light-hearted on going, maybe have some light ic back and forth talk but no thread requirement if that makes sense. they do help with the timeline. I always find timelines confusing, so for me it is always better when the rp is in pace with real life. but this is just a personal preference, I would be happy to follow whatever you guys decide!

events sounds good for a checkpoint, but i also do think it may hinder character/plot development. i've seen cases where people have had to rush their characters/plots in order to flow properly with the event timeline of a rp. it's also difficult to continuously come up with events and considering magicians 2.0 is more about thread activity, i wouldn't say it's completely necessary.

I think the checkpoint or milestone way of presenting a timeline is better and easier to keep track of. However, it puts more pressure on the admins. Don’t burn yourself out too much.

i love you all. as for the time line, maybe we can use seasons to tell time, and it changes every (irl) month. every irl week is a "month" in the timeline OR every 2.5 weeks is a month?

i hope that made sense,, if not i can elaborate

The events idea looks good for a checkpoint in the rp's timeline. I think the other idea seemed a bit too short? But idk, that's just me djskaldj
