the snow moon
✕ The first full moon since the lunar new year approaches. the Snow Moon, aptly named for the chilly winter weather, will rise into the sky on February 24th and the wolves will host a great celebration called Daeboreom (the great full moon).
in accordance with tradition, bonfires will be built to chase away the cold. they are built in a triangular form, with a little door on the east side. this formation of bonfire is known as "daljib" or "moon house" because in the past, wolves considered the light and warmth a gift from the moon. many spend time around the fire, dancing and playing a variety of games. rice cakes, five-grain rice, yaksik, and assorted nuts are popular snacks for the holiday. finally, close to dawn, wolves will light lanterns that embody their hopes for the coming year and send them up into the sky. this symbolized sending their wishes to dalsun and, if you were lucky, she would grant them.
an event room will be opening on the 24th and will stay open for a two week period. it will then be made private until the next full moon event.
