Dearest Ilhwazens,

It is near our 16th month since the emergence of Ilhwa. We are bound to hold fond memories of the old, while searching for novelty in the new. Overseeing the burgeoning desire to embark on new journeys within Hanseong, the cabinet gives you all an extra opportunity to weave a new tale to pass on your descendants in the form of an extra character slot.

However, please use this ticket wisely, lest you get swept by a tempestuous wind of greed. as of this seventh alt, we firmly draw the limit of our generosity. If you wish to gather more characters under your arsenal beyond the constraints given to you within Ilhwa, we suggest putting that energy into private roleplays tangentially related to this universe or building characters in other roleplays.

Unfortunately, coupled with the bright and auspicious days divined by the geomancers, there has been a cluster of dark clouds dawning on us as well. Along with the petitions for more characters, we also received grievances of cliquiness, romance chasing, and the hasty pursuit of endgames. In addition to bubble rolepaying, which violates the rules of the land, these echoed issues we experienced several months ago. It saddens us to hear that our transition to being a more tight-knit community came with melancholic blights, fostering a feeling of being ostracized and a sense of learned helplessness amongst others.

Before we move forward on the best course of action, we want to clarify and expound, even redefine to an extent, on what aligns with our view of these ongoing issues. Bubble roleplaying occurs when most, if not all, of your threads only appear to be with one mun or one character, especially one who is a romantic interest. Romance chasing can occur in both the writer’s corner and to a certain extent, in roleplaying rooms. This aligns with bubble roleplaying, where you solely interact with one character, except it involves out of character matters and can make others uncomfortable or less willing to interact with you and other writers as well. Cliquiness is self-explanatory.

Within our capabilities, the cabinet can issue disciplinary notices (i.e. warnings or strikes) to the parties who not only explicitly break our rules but also display inappropriate behavior warranting multiple complaints on a case by case basis as per usual. Rules are still expected to be followed and expectations are set even with the advent of laissez faire policies after our transition. However, we would like to reiterate to not expect us to play the middle man in personal affairs or to break the fourth wall by approaching personal accounts for grievances instead of the ilhwamun platform. If more concerns are brought to us in this manner, we cannot guarantee the mode of action we choose to take on your behalf. please remember that the cabinet listens to you all as both friend and admin.

As much as the team is exerting our efforts in addressing these concerns and to ensure a comfortable environment for everyone, these are issues inherent or unsalvageable in the state we transitioned to and limits in how many problems we can mitigate.

Given our insular community and the conscious decision to put the roleplay-wide storyline to rest, we also ask for our members to communicate amongst themselves without the need of our intervention regarding more menial complaints. you cannot expect the admin team to draw lines in the sand on your behalf.

On a lighter note, within our ongoing journey to declutter the old to make way for the new, we recently revamped our political roles. Due to the decrees passed by Her Majesty, allowing for commoners (namely sangmin and cheonmins) more freedoms, we naturally adjusted to honor the wishes of our Queen. Updates will be seen in the political roles room prior to the publishing of this announcement.

Despite our initially expressed disappointment, we owe you all our gratitude once again for these 16 months together. Throughout our ups and downs, the undulating waves of the sea, the bond and stories we share will never be washed away and will be retold over the annals of time.

yours truly,

queen min’s Cabinet

User tsujikiri and her asylum of alts has read this and would like to summarize two points of this announcement as follows:

The political roles have been revamped and are now giving more people from different classes the opportunity to take on an "official" job in the kingdom. The updated document can be found in the political roles room as per usual again.

The 7th character slot now granted will be the final slot for all muns and everybody is heavily encourage to use it wisely.
