Hello, everyone!

We’re excited to announce a few important updates and add-ons to improve our community. We’ve noticed some patterns of inactivity, and while we understand life can get busy, we’ve made some changes to ensure this space remains vibrant, engaging, and creative for everyone involved.

Our admin team has worked tirelessly to build and maintain this place, and we’re committed to keeping it active and thriving. Here are the updates to our rules and guidelines:

New Rules and Updates

  • Inactivity Rules for Multiple Characters
    ❛
If you receive two inactivity signs consecutively and briefly return to the IC chat without sustained engagement, you won’t be eligible for a third or fourth character immediately.
❛ Third characters can only be approved 7 days after consistent activity upon return. Fourth characters require 14 days of proven activity.
❛ Reminder: This is an active roleplay community, not a self-paced space. If you foresee difficulties staying active, please consider a hiatus or semi-hiatus.

  • General Inactivity
    ❛
The first inactivity warning is just a heads-up. However, if you fail to engage after this and receive a second inactivity sign shortly thereafter, you’ll be removed without further warning.

  • Mandatory Engagement for New Members
    ❛
New members must  earn 5  points within the first 72 hours after joining. Basic profiles (mandatory information without the photos or a fancy layout) must be completed within a week (if you need an extension, ask for more!).

  • Rejoining After Removal
    ❛
If removed for inactivity, you’ll need to wait 3 days before reapplying. Immediate reentry will not be permitted.

  • Unlimited Character Changes
    ❛
You may change characters as often as you like, with a 7-day cooling period between each change.

  • Replies
    ❛
To maintain activity, all members are encouraged to do at least 3 -10 replies per week. These can include shorter interactions in the tags room for smaller plots or longer paragraphs, and interaction in the IC chat. It was stated in the rules that you have to be active 3-4 times per week.  We have added an IC interaction room, where you can not only chat, but also plot - check it out " Fenrir's lounge!"

  • Fostering Connections
    ❛
If you’re struggling to build connections, explore the plot room for numerous pre-established ideas. Take the initiative—don’t wait for others to reach out first,

  • Head Student Position (Exclusive Opportunity)
    ❛
The Head Student role is open for applications until December 20th. If no one applies by then, the position will close permanently and remain an NPC role. Don’t miss out on this chance!

Our Vision:
We value your time and creativity and strive to provide a space that fosters collaboration and storytelling. However, for this community to succeed, we need motivated members willing to engage actively. If these expectations don’t align with your goals, we respect your decision to step away.

If you have a busy schedule, please utilize the hiatus or semi-hiatus options. They’re there to support you while keeping the space fair for everyone else.

Thank you for understanding and helping us grow stronger together. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.

With love,
The Admin Team

I have to semi-echo what Anubis wrote below.
There is no doubt to the effort the admin team puts into this, and I get the struggle that it can be to foster a community that is active and engaging with each other at all times. It is a struggle I know well from a lot of time on RPR in general.

That said, I am also a bit afraid that the change in rules about replies could both chase away or prevent someone from joining (especially in a turbulent time like the end of the year.)

I will of course do my best to uphold said replies myself, and hope it is a challenge people can take on to make the community thrive.

To begin, I’d like to thank our amazing admin team for their dedication and hard work. Your AU RP is a rare and thriving gem on this platform. My time here has been pleasurable. It was refreshing to walk into an RP to have pleasant interactions and carefully craft plots for creative storytelling. I have been part of RPR for over a decade, and my brief time here on Bloodline has been nothing short of phenomenal interacting with the community. Your efforts behind the scenes to ensure the success of this place have not gone unnoticed or unappreciated, thank you.

Considering this, I share my fellow writers’ concerns regarding the recent updates. We all naturally want a lively RP to prevent writer’s block, lost inspiration, and dwindling community numbers. However, the high demand on writers’ activity levels is unrealistic and unsustainable for long-term success. It’s true this RP isn’t self-paced, but managing 3-10 replies weekly might be difficult for some participants. High achievers are commendable; however, this isn’t universally feasible. Comparing your skills, lifestyle, and circumstances to others is unfair. You never know what someone is going through on the other side of this screen.

Carefully consider the variation in factors that play a considerable role in activity level.

Unforeseen circumstances, including but not limited to: family loss, academics, employment, personal time, other roleplaying engagements, mental/physical health, financial problems, and writing experience skill frequently impact writers. Writers’ experiences vary, and newer writers shouldn’t be penalized for their lack of experience. Production speed does NOT equate to quality. Rushed replies under pressure frequently produce subpar writing, potentially frustrating and discouraging the recipient. The backlash from the last announcement has already negatively affected and discouraged RP members. Which in the end will ultimately result in the several writers’ dismissal from the RP.

Despite our diverse backgrounds, skill, and language levels, it’s obvious that we all have a common purpose for being on RPR. The sole reason: FUN. Forced creativity, strict deadlines, and subpar writing to meet superficial activity levels completely undermine this goal. These requests are some stresses daily of us struggle with on a daily basis. With the exception that a lot of us are paid for that type of time-consuming commitment. This raises the question: Why would someone choose to engage in an activity that adds more stress to their life as a way to decompress?

I recognize the challenges of your work and your commitment to your RP’s well-being. But what’s for the well-being of your community? For the writer here are what make the RP what it is. Being admin for multiple years myself I understand that it’s hard as hell to maintain a lively RP especially an AU RP these days. Ultimately, an administrator’s role is providing a secure refuge for community members lacking alternative options. Encourage building creative stories to be cherished long after putting RPR behind not demand them. To help mitigate negative experiences and aid in build unforgettable memories. Admins are to lead the by their principles and values to foster new friendships, pick up writing skills and geek out about our favorite hot people. Valuing your community’s time and creativity requires giving them more leeway to produce phenomenal storytelling. You already possess all the necessary tools to transform this place into a thriving, engaging, creative, and safe environment, which is why the writers decided to join. Our cherished memories and bonds are powerful motivators to come back and keep contributing to our community.

We thank you for your time.

Kind regards Anubis_23
