Rule 01 - God-Moding

No God-Moding. What is God-Moding you may ask? God-Moding is when a character chooses to attack someone without giving them the chance to dodge or block and always overpowering other characters. More specifically it's about controlling another roleplayer's character (like making their body move/fall/stumble or getting an injury without their direct permission)

For example: Zelo rushes forwards and stabs Minho in the back with his knife.

The right way to do it would be to say 'Zelo rushed forward with a knife in hand aiming for Minho's back'. That way you give the other person a chance to decide whether or not they get hit.

You are not allowed to dodge everything. I understand if you dodge a lot but not everything. If you really want to dodge or block a lot do it with a consequence.

For example: Zelo saw Suzy's arrow coming towards him from the corner of his eye. He pushed his body away from the pillar as hard as he could, causing him to fall 20 meters down to the ground.

That would cause you to have many bruises and scratches and sensory impairment, but hey, you managed to dodge the arrow.

Above is my explanation coming straight from the rules and registration page on the main page. This is listed as rule number one; it was the first to come to mind because it is the most irritating and unforgiveable.

We are all roleplayers, we are here to roleplay. But when you're god-moding, you are not giving the chance for the other person to roleplay, to control their own character.

Let me give you a simple definition of god-moding. God-moding is when someone controls another roleplayer's character.

There are various forms of god-moding. In my explanation above, I mainly used one, and slightly touched on what the second one was. But more specifically there is a third form of god-moding.

Let's add Mir's example in here before I go any further

For example, if I were to type, "Mir stabbed Zelo in his left leg" that's god-modding, because I didn't let Zelo have time to react and choose if he was going to get injured or not.
Also, if Zelo were to keep dodging attacks from anyone, tributes or not, without ever or hardly getting injured, that's god-modding too.
Another form of god-modding, if you call it so, would be controlling another tribute or person. If I were to type, "Mir stabbed Zelo in the leg and Zelo fell down and broke his leg" that's controlling the other person and therefore god-modding.
I wanted to make sure everyone understood what god-modding actually is ^^

For example, if a GM were to put "A massive tode mutt came and croaked in Mir's face. This made Mir frightened." that's god-modding too. Or if they were to put, "because the toad was so heavy when it jumped, Mir lost balance on the ledge and fell down." That isn't giving Mir time to react and it's basically giving injuries without choice. I know we might not notice it as much and it's not such an impact on the GMs as tribues, but I just wanted to point that out as well ^^ GMs aren't perfect either :P

This basically goes over the three major forms of god-moding. But let me elaborate on them.

The first form of god-moding is when you deliberately injure, or do something to someone, without giving them a choice. Instead, you can say you are aiming for a certain area, or are intending to do something. Do not just go out right and say them. If you do so, even if they do dodge, you will have points taken off of you.

The second form of god-moding is when you control people's reactions to something. This can be both physical and emotional control. Mir demonstrated this earlier in both forms by showing that Mir was stabbed Zelo, but also made him fall down and not only that but break his leg. Another point was the part that initiated fear in Mir. You cannot make others feel something, just by telling them they feel a certain emotion. Different people will react differently to the same situations. Give them a chance, and you'll find it's better to experience the different thoughts and reactions of other roleplayers.

The third form of god-moding is playing the invincible and undefeatable.  OK, I get it, your character is 'tough', but they are not invincible. All characters here are humans, just humans. If your character is constantly dodging/evading/blocking every attack, or nearly every attack, this is god-moding. This is impossible for two reasons; one, you are demeaning the other roleplayer's character by saying your character is better and can't even be touched by the likes of their character; and two, eventually, in a fight your character is a human and would tire which causes them to slow down and making them 'touchable'. This also goes for having too much of certain skills, like strength, speed, eye-sight, smell, hearing, brains, etc. Your character is human neither a walking-textbook nor a super hero. No matter if your character excels in a certain skill there comes a time when you have to realize that your character is under extreme physiological stress from entering this game, and they are under extreme conditions from being starved, dehydrated, and injured. This is starting to go into realism so I'll stop here, since that is another topic.

Here is another excerpt that I particularly liked:

It's actually correctly called "godmoding", in reference to the "god mode" you can enter in a computer game to become invincible.

In roleplay, it means trying to exert too much control over the plot and other characters, usually because the player has no concept of in character or out of character and is there to "win" and satisfy their ego rather than be creative and collaborative. Examples:

1) Invincibility
Creating a character so powerful and invulnerable that it cannot take any damage, be incapacitated or hindered, lose a fight, feel pain etc.

2) Dictating other players' responses
Swinging a punch and telling the other player that they are down, that they are unconscious, cut, dead or whatever. In ual roleplay, it might mean dictating someone else's level or signs of arousal.

3) Impossibility
Drawing a knife when your hands are tied. Pulling a bow out of your rectum when you're on the ground and hogtied (I wish I were making this up). Drawing a bow out of your rectum at all, come to that. Being held by the hair and with a knife at your throat but whizzing round and slapping your captive and disarming them.

4) Just plain silliness
Taking the plot to asinine turns purely to avoid your character having to suffer a misfortune too weak for your manly fictitious self. Being shot at and deflecting the bullet with a penny on a string so that it flies back up the gun nozzle. Again, I wish I were making this up.

5) Anything that is used to let one character force the plot and does not enable the story to be a properly collaborative effort with plausibility.

It's annoying, anti-social, counterproductive and makes you look stupid. Nobody thinks the godmoder is strong
, hard, cool or intelligent. We think you have no consideration, no understanding of roleplay and no intelligence whatsoever. Don't do it.

Rule 02 - Posts; Word Count

Write proper sentences. Use capitals, punctuation, and grammar rules. Okay, you don't have to be perfect. Just use at least 70 words in your posts. If you are an overachiever and go past 15o words in one post, STOP. Title your first post '[part one]' and write the next part in another post labeled '[part two]'. But this second post still has to be at least 70 words. When you're done with your consecutive posts (it may be the second post and it may not) label it '[end post]'. Use quotation marks when you speak. Do not use ** -- // to describe your actions. You can however use them to separate thoughts from the regular piece of writing. Use sentences even if they are fragments. If I see you using those astrals, dashes, and slashes to describe your actions you will be giving a serious warning; same applies if you don't write at least 70 words.

Above is the direct excerpt from the rules and registration page.

Below is the direct excerpt from a blog I made.

My explanation of what the revision to this rule is: I did some calculating and it takes about 70-80 words to fill up about 3 lines (posted). So I think the minimum word count will be 70. And the maximum to be 150 words. If it goes over 150, you should add an OOC to that post and put '[part one]' so that the others know that there is more to it. And then do more of it on the next post, but it still has to be at least 70 words. And label this '[part two// end part]' or something. or keep going if they need to. So people should know that they should wait to reply to these people if that happens, so once you see the ‘[part one]’, you automatically know that there will be at least one other part coming. The final part should be labeled that way, so that the person doesn’t keep waiting for more posts from you.

This way we solve the content problem and people who write longer posts get a bit more karma this way.

You can use a word document to count the word amount in your post. OR you can use one of these easy to use sites:

http://www.wordcounttool.com/  ( a brightly colored, simple site)
http://www.wordcounter.net/  (Probably the ugliest looking from these three sites, but it can not only help you count your words it will point out words you use a lot to help your word choice. My favorite, and the one I use.)
http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/script2/countwords.shtml (simple site)
It's simple copy and paste method. You could also type it out there then copy and paste it to where you're roleplaying

To wrap this up for people who don't read carefully: Each post must now contain at least 70 words. No more counting sentences.

And as you see it's easy as one, two, three, for me to check whether or not you posted enough words.

I realize for those on certain types of mobile it may not be possible for you to use the copy and paste methods to ensure you have enough words. But if you write only about 70 words per post it's easy to manually count it. Other people who use mobile devices can still use tabs so it's fine with some.

If this causes an inconvenience for you, I apologize, but we have many people who have been wanting a way to solve the content problem and inequality. Not including me, we had two admins and/or GM's (not disclosing the information) say yes to this, another admin and/or gm say no (for the mobile reason), and another that said either way. With my vote (a yes), it was completely settled. Though I was hesitant because of the mobile problems but it's what we admins and GM's have decided by popular vote.

Rule 05 - Reporting Injuries

You must report your injuries on the Points System page, be as detailed as possible. If you are injured report what your injury is and who did it (If you don't remember that's okay but keep an eye out). As you saw earlier 'Zelo' technically injured himself by dodging that arrow. Just put that you injured yourself and we'll understand that it was for dodging a bigger blow purposes (or because you are a klutz). You must be careful with injuries because what kind of injury depends on how many points you get deducted from your total. You also get bonus points if you manage to severely injure someone. [Click here to read more on injuries and the point system]

Above is the direct excerpt from the rules and registration page.

Below is my detailed explanation and complaints from a blog I made earlier on.

At first I was OK with how most you reported injuries, then I didn’t mind it, but now it’s irritating. I’m not saying you guys got worse about it, you didn’t; it’s actually stayed the same. It’s just my tolerance has been worn thin as time went on. And I thought it’s about time I said something about it before I crack down hardcore on you guys. ^^’

I cannot stress how frustrating it is when I get injury reports that are not specific. The only person who I can say that writes their injury reports almost perfectly if I remember correctly is Nana.

Let me explain to you what I mean by using commonly used unspecific reports.

When you say ‘a lot of cuts’, ‘various bruises’, ‘many scrapes’, or just the plural of an injury you are not being specific enough for me to record your injuries with precision. I’m supposed to take each injury and deduct a certain amount of ‘injury points’, but for example one flesh bruise is minus one. So if you have many bruises… How much is many? I will usually deduct as though you have two to four of that injury if you give me the plural or telling me it’s multiple of it.

Adding the word ‘small’, ‘deep’, ‘large’, ‘long’, ‘narrow’ and other descriptive words that depict an injury. Let’s say you have large cut… That means it’s more than minus two, right? At least that’s what I take it as, I will usually deduct anywhere from three to five points if you add ‘large’, ‘long’ or other words that are telling me that it’s more than the normal. If it says the word ‘deep’ anywhere in it I will record as a deep wound and have the eight point deduction for ‘deep wounds’.  I get a lot of wounds, usually cuts, that say ‘narrow’, ‘long’, and/or ‘not deep’; this is confusing to me because it’s telling me it’s larger than the average cut but that means it’s laceration by your description, so I’ll try to deduct what I think it is from you description, but if it’s laceration by my deduction that’s a whole five points. And as for the ones that add small or other similar description that’s telling me it’s less, but sometimes I will give it a what it is deduction; meaning small cut = cut = minus two.

The Difference In Bruising.

A regular flesh bruise is only a one point deduction, and normally if you get one you’ll get multiple if it’s in a fight.

Please, please, please, please tell me in your report whether this is a flesh bruise or a bone bruise.

Often times if it’s bruising of the bone that will come with a flesh bruise and/or swelling/inflammation. So I’ll take away for bruising of the bone and for the possible flesh bruise or swelling.

What Does ‘wound/injury’ Mean?

I also get a lot of ‘wound on this’, ‘wound on that’, ‘wound from this’, ‘wound because of this’. Where do I even begin to decide what kind injury this is? Same goes for saying ‘injury’ in the place of ‘wound’. I have no idea where I am to begin to decide what kind of points I need to deduct from this. From the little description you give me I’ll try and decide for myself what kind of injury you’re trying to tell because I don’t have time to go scouting for you when it was your fault for not reporting accurately if I deduct more points than you were aiming for.

This also goes for when you say thing like ‘kick in the face’ or ‘punch to the face’. Did you break your nose? Bust your lip? Bite your tongue? Lip cut open? Cut somewhere in the mouth? Bruise anything? Were your senses impaired? Black eye? You get the point by now; just remember to be more specific from now on.

Does this count?

Sometimes you’ll ask me ‘Does this count?’ on an injury or something similar to that. Often times, yes, it does count. Most of time its things like choking/strangling or kick/hit in the groin//crotch. Yes they do count.

If you are choked or strangled I imagine there will be some light or heavy bruising of the flesh on your neck, soreness, and from that some swelling of your neck or even you lungs or throat; and most importantly temporary sensory impairment from the lack of oxygen in those moments.

If you take a hit to the groin this is a very serious injury xD It can involve bruising of the flesh, small cuts, swelling and most importantly soreness and sensory impairment. If you don’t believe me ask any guy and they will tell you they will be sore and their senses were definitely impaired. Swelling and small cuts are really for severe hits to the , but it can happen. Usually I will only deduct points for soreness and sensory impairment unless described otherwise.

Who did this to you?

Lastly, most of you do this as of the second game, but tell who gave you what injury. If it’s injury that adds up to at least five points ot more then the person who inflicted the injury will gain a certain number of points.

Injuries, thing that need to be discussed. Excerpt from my blog.

1. - Your character will be sore. So that's just a small deduction for being sore. If it's a girl and it's their first time, or it's guy and *cough*theygetpenetrated*cough* they'll probably be sore, more than sore they will be really sore @.@ maybe even swollen. If it's really forceful they may gain various bruises, I expect this more from , but rough too. One may gain scratches on their backs or arms from the other person holding them like that during the process.

2. Non-enemy - Okay... say your character is just carrying some heavy things or an ally. Muscles may become sore. Your character is doing a lot of lifting and/or running, muscles like calves and biceps may get swollen and sore. Climbing and crawling may leave scrapes on your character. Allies may do little things that can cause minor injuries that you may not even notice.

3. Food/Drink - Things may cause diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, stomach pains, etc. Make things interesting, make your character allergic to some foods, lactose intolerant, picky eater, strongly dislike certain foods, etc.

Wishlist Rules

Excerpt:

I don’t think I have ever addressed the wish list on a blog, but I think it’s about time I do because of both recent accidents and piling incidents.

First I want you to go read all the things that are above the wish list because by some things it’s very obvious to me that most of you have yet to read it. So read it first: http://www.roleplayrepublic.com/roleplay/view_page/8054/A/0/

Taking Gifts Without The Gift Being Delivered

Some things that are in there that have happened is that a tribute sees that they are sponsored but fails to wait for an admin or GM to deliver their gift to them. They say they have it with them all of a sudden or something similar. I realize some of you have been waiting for your gift for quite a while and get impatient because you may really need your item. If that’s the case please PM and admin or GM when you see them online so that they can deliver it to you. And if that person is not me, then please remind them to report it to me so I don’t redeliver your gift some other time or assume you still have not received your gift.

Multiple requests from a tribute at the same time.

Some of you have a ton of requests on the wish list, and I realize most of them have yet to be granted but please be patient. If you wish to remove a wish please do tell me as soon as possible. I’m thinking of limiting of how many items you can request per wish and how many wishes you can have up on the wish list at the same time (example: Three items per wish. Two wishes on the wish list at the same time [which seems very reasonable to me, I may actually use this ._.]).

Unnecessary Wishes

I can break this topic in to two pieces.

First off is wishing for things that you do need such as a toy or something like a or make out scene, or the simple shipping of a couple. I don’t mind the ones of the make out/ scenes or the shipping of a couple. But I do mind the ones of objects that could be delivered like toys or other items. I don’t like them at all and I wish for you to stop requesting them. I am not talking about the wishes of specific foods or drinks (like Dara’s Jajangmyeon, Joon’s cupcakes, Minwoo’s alcoholic beverage, and Bom’s fruitcake), those are all fine with me it’s funny, but it can still used in a benefitting way for the tribute.

Second off is say you wished for something that you really needed but then another tribute helped you out so you don’t need it anymore (I am not picking on you, Yongguk, this happens to a lot of people but they just don’t point it out usually.) But yet you still have us deliver such a precious item to you anyway. I would prefer you to tell me to remove it from your wish since it’s unnecessary. The wish list is not for you to stock up; it’s mainly for necessary items when you are dying, can’t move, or are starving.

Districts, Weaknesses and Strengths {written by both Jinri&Zelo}

Okay, this topic has long been overdue. It's such a broad, and I thought obvious, topic that I never wanted to sit down and address it but it seems I have to.

A large percentage of ya'll discard your weaknesses and discard other people’s strengths. What I'm trying to say is that you'll focus on and realize your strengths, but you'll often forget your weaknesses, or you'll undermine your weaknesses. Every damn person will have weaknesses and I expect them to be played out more often. Because I and just a few other diligent honest roleplayers are always aware of their weaknesses and always play them out correctly. And it frustrates me that some of you are so obviously undermining your weaknesses.

Here's the thing, we have profiles for a reason. You need to be aware of the profile you made, and you need to be aware of the profile the person you are fighting has made. I know it's overwhelming to memorize everyone's weaknesses and strengths. So you don't have to. What I want you to do is when you're fighting someone to go and read their strengths and their strengths only. So that when they are using something that is a 'strength' to them, you aren't just meagerly dodging or countering it. I and so many other people have had this happen to them.

Let me give you a few examples. Zelo is fast, that's really his main strength, his best. But others seem to be outrunning or catching up with him all the time, if their main strength is also speed I don't mind that much. But more often than not their profile never says speed as their strength. Your character will not know the strengths or weaknesses of others, never. Not unless they have told you in character. But you, out of character, should be highly aware of their strengths as it will be a key to realistic and fair roleplaying.

Here's another example. In the ending game of the first and second game Zelo was put up against his worst enemy, the cold. Although it was a pain to do and made Zelo seem like a weakling -who he is not- I forced him to be slower in reacting, running; everything including his thoughts and strength were diminished. In the ending game of the second game Zelo was fighting Yonghwa, and made a huge amount of errors because of his slow reaction time and movements. He was shivering so much he could of just fainted on the spot. And although I hated it, I knew that because this was Zelo's main weakness he would not and could not win the challenge.

I've seen so many of you who have the certain fears completely undermine or not even put them in your roleplaying. There will be consequences to this. This will consider a form of god-moding because it is. You are making your character seem invincible with undermining or forgetting their weaknesses. Red light! Stop.

To the fair and honest tributes out there, please report tributes that do this. So many of you guys just let this kind of thing go and it makes me sad and very disappointed in you (the person(s) who did not report). I only have so many eyes, and although I try and read everything I can't, I try and skim read as much as I can but this makes me miss some important details. Your identity will not be revealed if you report someone. All that happens is that we'll address the problem with the person who god-moded and they may be reprimanded.

So, just like we have strengths and weaknesses for a reason, we chose districts for a reason. And your strengths and weaknesses should largely correspond with your chosen district. You are not Katniss. You cannot be Katniss. If you are in District 12, you should not be an avid hunter and plant specialist. This is really general example but it's best to use the original for something like this because I'm afraid if I get too specific that I may be pointing fingers at people.

District One-ers. You can really go two ways with this. You can choose to make them somewhat experienced fighters due to the extravagant training they have the opportunity to receive because they are one of the three career districts. From there you can choose your specific strengths and weaknesses. Or you can choose to be rather weak in the speed and strength area because they are after all in a luxury district where they don't have to really do anything. With this you may or may not choose to let them know how to make luxury items like jewelry.

District Two-ers. If your character is of this district I would expect them to specialize and excel in a certain weapon type or they have experience (but not perfection) with many types of weapons. The more creative kind may be able to make their own weapons using materials they get in backpacks and the arenas. Again this is one of the three career districts so they're allowed to have some training in fighting.

District Three-ers. People of this district should not excel in the physical aspects. They can have some strength and some speed it would be impossible for them to get any much more than that without a good explanation. This district is after-all not a career district. The people here will know how to build things like small electronics and know how to take apart and fix things. They may be experienced with wire. They may be smarter than most others.

Disrict Four-ers. People of this district should be able to swim and fish. They can be able to distinguish different fishes (eatable, nonedible). They can be familiar with water or near-water, plants and insects, and maybe even other animals. It depends on their smarts how much they know of these plants, animals and insects. This is the last of the career districts, so they have the opportunity to train for the games.

District Five-ers. Power, delivers power to the Capitol.
As people of the power district, tributes here are expected to have knowledge on how to operate machines (future Capitol created monsters count) and are quick thinkers. Because of possible power outages and/or radioactive chemical releases, people of district five should be able to react properly, rushing to resolve the problem as hastily as possible. This could also mean that tributes from district five are fast on their feet. In conclusion, they are mentally strategic and have stable lower body strength. They should not be as strong seeing as how there is no need to really lift anything heavy at the power plants. That's what machines are used for right?

District Six-ers. The classic laborers on the railroad of the railroad era, think of that. People of this district mostly work long hours, for days/weeks/months on end to complete section of a railroad. The job is extrenuous which means they may be malnourished and used to eating whatever is on hand. Arm muscles, especially the biceps, should be strong and well-toned because of the constant hammering and other work on the railroad. Because of their arm strength they should be able to lift heavy objects. They may be tolerant to extreme weathers from working all year long outside on the railroads and streets. They may know the quirks of certain tools.

District Seven-ers. People of this district strongly resemble the strengths and weaknesses for those of District 6. Again, their upper body strength should be great and they should have a stable lower body. They'll know wood types and woods better than anyone. They'll know what they can use to make fires or shelter, and what isn't good fuel. It's possible they know what trees will hold certain animals, fruit, sap, etc. This can lead them to food that others may not have thought of; bark. Because they aren't given the large opportunity to  learn they may not be the brightest or most strategic tributes.

District Eight-ers. Textiles, in charge of making clothing pieces for Capitol.
Tributes of this district should be able to calculate measurements quickly. This doesn't necessary have to be for clothing only. This could also be for strategic planning, the distance from you to your enemy, how many attacks it would take to cripple a rival, etc. Truthfully speaking, tributes from district eight are more of the back ranked players; ones who don't do as much combat fighting. They seemed to be more of the people who think of tactics, ones who plans ahead of time like they would do for the designing of clothes. They're able to work their way around needles and fire. They should be familiar with different types of fabric's quirks and setbacks, and what materials can make certain fabrics.

District Nine-ers. This disitrct works directly with Medicine. They'll know better than anyone what medcine can treat what best, they'll know how much and how. It's expected they'll know their herbal medicines well, if they were applied in the area. It can help in the arenas to know how to make certain medicines, it can save their lives or their allies lives. Just as the perk, they can know how to poison others whether by overdose or a real poison. They may be able to distrinquish plants by their texture, scent, and looks (eatable, poisonous, healing, etc). They probably be weak in physical qualities including strength and speed, but their mind and knowledge may be able to make up for that.

District Ten-ers. Livestock. For the most part you've got butchers and livestock farmers in this district. Most tributes will be familiar with most types of animals, they be experts of certain animals (not all -.-) as well. Depending on what your tribute directly worked with, they may know how to raise, how to kill, how to butcher, how to shed, how to feed, how to a lot that has to do with animals and keeping care of the farm or meat store. People of this district may have had minimal contact with district 8 for fur trading.

District Eleven-ers. The agriculture district.

District Twelve-ers. Coal mining
People of this district must have knowledge on how to properly start fires. Because coal mining also needs harsh labor work, district twelve tributes are to have solid upper body strength. Their leg muscles would also have to hard and tough if they were to mine coal daily. However, the down point would be their inability to aim correctly. People here have no need to use bows and arrows, therefore their accuracy wouldn't be good at all. They are also the least well treated district of the rest meaning that their attitudes would not be happy and cutesy all the time but fierce, threatening, dangerous etc etc.

Veterans and Newbies

There should be a difference between the mind and body of tributes who have been in the games for long period of time in comparison to new tributes.

At this point, I don't really care if you 'new' tribute has some fighting experience. It should not be anything comparable to the valued veteran fighters who have been through countless life and death situations on a daily basis for several games.

The endurance and stamina have probably all gone up considerably on any tribute who has endured the games. Heck, strength, speed, and whatever else has probably gone up. However comparing a veteran strength fighter to a veteran speed fighter, despite that both have increased where they were weak in, it is still their weakness and should not be comparable to another veteran.

Newbies, may have good stamina and great 'anything', as long as that is their strength but need to consider that although they may have been notable in their district the veteran tributes have gained tons of compacted experience and endurance throughout this game.
