Longbow
Advantages: Attacks from long distances are made possible. This bow is sturdy enough so that one would be able to parry other weapons.
Disadvantages: The ammunition (arrows) are very limited and definitely breakable. It's difficult to use when engaged in close combat. Accuracy is low if one is inexperienced. Medium-heavy weight and will get in the way when the wielder is moving around.
Morning Star –
Advantages: Attacks come swiftly and at a great power. The ball is rather heavy and deals a large blow, the spikes aren't too long but in combination with the rather heavy ball, it will deal a heavy blow and bring in bruises.
Disadvantages: It's unbalanced and depending on one's strength, it may need two hands. It's spikes aren't as long as the flails'. You also have to be at a certain distance to land sideway, upward, and downward blows.
Longsword –
Advantages: Long blade for considerable reach. Straight, double-edged with a pointed tip for powerful ing maneuvers. Designed to pierce through armor, therefore is capable of piercing skin and other, thicker materials.
Disadvantages: Due to design, requires two hands to wield effectively, thereby limiting the effectiveness of your alternate hand. Design doesn't emphasize cutting or slicing. Difficult to wield if inexperienced with swords. Considerable length and size makes it difficult for weaker/smaller tributes to wield.
Rapier –
Advantages: Slender, long-bladed, sharply pointed sword for ing attacks. Complex hilt provides protection for wielding hand. Relatively light for ease of use. If experienced, allows for quick, continual, piercing attacks.
Disadvantages: Due to light weight and thin blade, unable to parry attacks from wider, thicker weapons. Thin blade isn't suited for cutting attacks. ( shallow slices at best ) Ineffective if wielder is unfamiliar with form of attack. Flimsy, easy to bend and break.
Sabre –
Advantages: Curved, single-edged blade most effectively used for cutting/slashing attacks. Suitable for novice/inexperienced sword wielders as it doesn't require the accuracy of stabbing swords. Average weight with a hand-guard protecting the knuckles, thumb and forefinger. Good for defense.
Disadvantages: Average-Heavyweight weapon, difficult to wield for those with below average strength. Ineffective against full-body armor or a shield. Single-blade limits offensive maneuvers.
Falchion –
Advantages: Thick, single-blade allows for extremely effective and powerful slashing maneuvers. Design allows for maneuverability of other swords with weight and power of an axe. Can chop/dent durable armor and break bones with enough force. Difficult to parry/counter. Extremely durable.
Disadvantages: Heavy weight makes it difficult for males and females of average strength to wield effective. Slow recovery time. Not an effective defensive weapon. Poor ing capabilities. Although able to wield by strong, inexperienced tributes, requires training to maximize potential.
Flail –
Advantages: Attacks come swiftly and at a great power. The ball is rather heavy and deals a large blow, the long spikes are a great addition to pierce through a heart. The chain helps with distance as well.
Disadvantages: It's very hard to wield, not always accurate and there's always a possibility you may hit yourself. Not recommended to reckless or inexperienced tributes.
Sling –
Advantages: Can be used at various ranges. ( mid-range as a blunt weapon, similar to the effect of clubs; mid-to-long-range as a projectile to launch objects such as rocks, etc. from ) Depending on location, cradle allows for wide range of readily accessible ammunition. ( i.e. rocks/stones/etc. ) Accurate and powerful if skilled in usage. Good default weapon as it is instinctive, doesn't require special/unique training or technique. Small, can be compact, easy to carry.
Disadvantages: Easy to release projectile at the slightly wrong time and miss target. Low accuracy if inexperienced. Provides no defense. Useless in hand-to-hand combat. Depending on location, ammunition may be little to nonexistent.
