They're super loud and can cause long term hearing damage
They can be used to communicate instructions but they have been used to disperse crowds before. They have even been weaponised before.
If you end up near one, they are directional, so run perpendicular to it and that will reduce the decibels you're exposed to quicker
Chances are they are just being intended for communicating instructions, but it's important to be aware just in case
