Why do you like/dislike ocrps?

This is only applying to ocrps where the faces used are either famous or don't actually exist, no random people just grabbed from some distant corner of the internet

Also saying that you're only here to play out your fave ships is a valid response

Personally, I enjoy ocrps because I can use things that aren't actual people as faces. Imvu, Sims, art etc
Also because it means that characters names don't seem bizarre and ill fitting in certain situations (ie something set in Victorian England, a couple of exotic names would be okay but every character having a Korean name would look odd and break the suspension of disbelief or whatever that's called.)

echoing the sentiment about liking ocrps since it allows more creative freedom. though we all know that we're not rping as the actual idol, i feel like there is some burden or need for many (or maybe just myself) to portray their known personality/persona even in an aurp. with ocrps, you don't have that burden at all and you can create any personality you'd like w/ the preferred face claim. after all, face claims are just a visual reference of what your character looks like, so using an idol/model/artwork doesn't really matter imo. perhaps I'm used to this thought/mentality since i used to do tumblr rps where people used famous people as faces of their original characters or a live-action version of an animated character or alternative face of a movie character

I like ocrps because I feel more freedom with my characters regardless of how "famous" they actually are
plus I'm an artist so character design kinda comes easy to me

I think I agree with benihime, that’s you could just not rp how they are in public. But also for me it just involves a lot more thinking and I do that enough irl, I don’t come here to think in-depth about things and it’s just more work when all that stuff is right there in front of me to grab. That’s why I haven’t joined that Harry Potter based rp even though I really want to.

i don't see the point in them when you're still using the face of a specific celebrity. it could easily just be an au rp so you don't have to portray them factually. giving an established idol and etc a random new name while using their actual face is weird to me.
