Christianity in Reformation:
Edict of Milan: To freely practice any religion.
Constantine had a vision of God telling him to draw a symbol (P with a cross; Chi Rho) on a shield and banners and that he would win the war that way. He did that and won.
He became Christian on his death bed in 313.
Prior to 313, Christians were persecuted.
The Great Schism
Separated the Eastern and Western Churches in 1054.
The East - Constantinople
The West - Rome
The Church split because:
They couldn’t come to the agreement of the words in the Nicene Creed
Distance between Rome and Turkey
The Eastern Church spoke Greek
The Western Church spoke Latin
The Eastern Church was formalized
The Western Church was simple
Eastern Church has their own Creed
Jesus’ Birth is celebrated in 7th January and 25th December because they follow a different calendar.
