So I didn't go online yesterday and was just able to be online today.
Here's the thing and it's really pissing me off (yes, up until now I'm still pissed).
Last week, I got a call from a woman offering me to be a member of a new project for something something. The reception was really crazy so I couldn't understand. Before she could hang up, I asked to clarify if the call came from Amnesty International. She said, "Yes yes yes...I'll send you the directions..." Then the call ended. So the whole time 'til June 2, I was so worked up. I couldn't think well and was so nervous because -damn!- this was Amnesty International offering me a job. I assumed it's something peace related or just some researching but hell! I've always dreamed to be part of their organization! It's one of my goals in life: to a member of AI. Come June 3, I prepared my resume, and , wore the best articles from my closet and followed the directions I was given.
The night before, I couldn't sleep and as protocol (which I'm used to, I'm not sure if this is protocol to other offices), I texted the person who called me and recapped the information I was relayed to, checking if I got everything right.
Good evening, Ms. Donato! Just a recap: we'll be meeting at Starbucks at the Hanston Lobby which is beside the Richmonde Hotel.
3PM, for an interview for Amnesty International. Yes? Thank you and have a good day!
She didn't reply. I shrugged it off.
The interviewer was 30 minutes late. When I got into Starbucks, I saw my friends (3 of them) and we were all having this nagging feeling that maybe this was a scam. The other was told about an offer from a different company while the two others weren't given a specific company. We waited. All the while, I was thinking that it would be so weird for a peace organization to conduct an interview in Starbucks because really, Starbucks is one of the large conglomerates supporting guns and its proliferation. I told myself that maybe this was a test.
"What would you want to order?"
I'll say, "Nothing. I've stopped supporting SB after learning that they support gun proliferation..."
"Okay, you're hired!"
But that didn't happen. I was surprised when she came in shorts and slippers when my friends and I are in our best corporate attires. She ordered herself a drink at the counter. Asked us a few questions blah blah blah then told us to follow her to their office. We did. We were then ushered inside a small room where an orientation about Nu Skin is taking place and it ING OFFENDED ME! I came here for a networking orientation about a skin care product!??!
I studied pre-law for crying out loud! My friends and I shed blood and tears and threw away friendships while we went through our grueling for years for our degree and we get this? So we started to devise a plan on ruining the orientation just as how they ruined our day. We could see that they were able to gather 30 people including us and they were really listening.
I raised my hand. "So the name of this company is...?"
"American Biotechnology..." and the speaker drawled about the company being debt-free and the greatness of their products and Brad Pitt using it. I don't give a .
So one friend cut her off. "You mean, networking?"
"Ah, yes..but..."
Then the four of us rose from our seats and walked out.
We contacted another friend to file a case of misleading. She might get her court notice soon.
It was a very tiring day...
I had Mann Hann's mango cheesecake though to end the day so it was cool, I guess.
/sighs/
