So, the other day, I went to deliver baguettes at the French Alliance because my mom had other orders in the afternoon.
(She's a baker-slash-everythingfoodrelated and our clientèle is mostly French, because bread is to us what rice is to Koreans, and there is no good baguette, here in Cape Town).
So, I arrive at the French Alliance, which is a place for French people to meet, and everyone tries to speak to me in English.
....
???
I think it's because I'm not white.
It's not the first time this has happened.
I also am the baguette girl at the market since my mom is aaaaalways late and has to bake more stuff, and sooo many people try speaking to me in english, despite the fact that we advertise in French, and everything on our table screams French.
Of course, I'm the one who advertises everything, and takes orders. But they don't know.
They don't know
They don't know
But they finna find out soon
