Society has always been about rank, status, wealth and belonging to a certain group of people. Dividing people into groups and choosing an overarching elite made it possible to keep a strict system, even though it didn't always have a positive effect. It prevented chaos from spreading but with the price of causing an unavoidable gap between the rich and poor. The strong and weak. The good and bad.
Over time, humankind evolved, continuing to adjust to the system by inexplainable means. Eye color soon became the clear indicator of one's ranking. Three prodominent hues: Ruby, Emerald, and Sapphire. Rubies are the strongest and wealthiest, having unmatched powers. Next come Emeralds, the middle class with still one unique ability. Last are Sapphires, the weakest and poorest, having no powers at all.
However, there is one last rank that is nowhere near comparable to the others: Diamond. Pure white eyes with God like abilities. They rule over the land and all its inhabitants.
Some saw this system as cruel and unfair, breaking away entirely from their mold and creating their unofficial rank: Pearl. All derived from different backgrounds with the sole purpose to see the system fall. They remain hidden deep in the shadows until the time comes to attack.
The only question that remains now is: Which rank are you?
