Bio : Dongyeol grew up in a generally poor family in China. His father was Korean and his mother Chinese. Due to his father’s business failing a year after Donyeol was born, the family moved in with Dongyeol’s grandparents on his father side. Once Dongyeol turned five, he was interested in singing - his grandparents helped pay for private vocal lessons for him. His parents were never home due to working four jobs at a time to help pay off their debt.
When Dongyeol was six years old, he began composing songs, working with his vocal lesson teacher - who then introduced him to a professional composer who wrote idol songs.
The composer allowed Donyeol to get lesson from him for free. One day, while he was six years old, the composer took Dongyeol to work with him. He was amazed and inspired by the idols that worked with the composer - they produced the music, sang while dancing, this made Dongyeol wish to become an idol when he grew up.
The composer introduced Dongyeol to a dancing academy once he found out about his newly discovered dream. He was admitted to the dance academy as a scholarship student at the age of six as well. During that year span (while he was six), he frequented more towards his vocal lessons, composition lessons and dancing skills. Also, since he had to increase his composition skills, he learned to play the guitar and piano. He continued to train with his vocal coach, composition teacher, dance academy and at times idol groups that worked with his composition teacher until he turned eight years old. Dongyeol’s father found a nice and stable job in Korea, forcing Dongyeol and his mother to move from China to Korea. Dongyeol’s composition teacher told him about Crown Royal Entertainment, which was becoming a big company and encouraged him to audition for the company. His vocal teacher, dance academy teacher, composition teacher and several idol groups that he worked with helped set up an audition time with Crown Royal for Dongyeol to audition. Once his family arrived to South Korea, instead of settling at home, his first stop as his family arrived to Korea, was to audition for the company. At the age of ten years old, he became the first idol trainee in Crown Royal Entertainment and has been training there ever since.
