No progress. Years and years have passed, and there still is no progress. To Gabe, there's nothing worse than standing still. No matter how many times the cross dna, they try and produce the perfect human, they keep failing. It shouldn't upset him too much, for this was never the life he'd imagined himself to have, but he is a very ambitious one, and stubborn at that. If he was stuck in this time depriving job, he at least wanted to make it right. The more failures they produced, the farer away he felt from his true self, because with every failure, a little piece of self respect died within him. He knew this was wrong, he knew experiments on humans should have never have happened, but it was his /job/ to get it right. And what would it suggest about him if he couldn't even get this stupid task right? With the help of not one, but almost hundred other Scientists.
He looked at the test tube, at the yellow fluid inside it, and put it in the capsule. It was connected to wires and hoses that would bring it to life, and, if successful, they'd have a super-human. One with a wolf's nose, a horse's eyes, a cat's reflexes and a rabbit's speed. If not, they'd have a terrible failure, one he wasn't sure could survive. Next to him, his partner was taking notes of the DNA sequences they'd taken, of the way they crossed it, of how the sequences melted, of the successful cell division - it all looked perfect. But there had been too many losses to hope for a win.
