Description
After her muggle mother left, it was up to Kristen's father to take on the role of raising her. He was a good man, caring and strong, though a little tough on the exterior, but that was expected of someone teaching defence against the dark arts at an institute like Durmstrang. She took on the majority of his traits as she grew up, becoming strong, brave and stubborn, driven by her desire for greatness, but personality traits weren't the only thing she inherited from her father, he passed his magic down to her too. It was safe to say he was beyond proud when he discovered that his daughter possessed the same gift, but with this discovery came a dilemma ; where would he have her schooled. Of course it would have been easier to send her to Beauxbatons but both he and Kristen herself knew that wasn't the right place for her, so instead they fought and begged to get her into Durmstrang, a school that in the past had only accepted male students. After a whole lot of 'My daughter has the same strength that the boys have, if not more. I didn't raise a pansy', Kristen was finally accepted into the institute.
Sadly, her happiness at Durmstrang didn't last. When she turned 18, Kristen began to notice that her father was growing weaker and weaker by the day and within a few months he passed away from the leukemia that he had been too stubborn to let them treat him for. 'I'm fine. I don't need medication. Have you any idea who I am?' He had been a perfect example of the phrase 'pride always comes before a fall'.
Without her father there to encourage her, Kristen began to shut herself away, her friendships began to dissolve after she became bitter and soon enough no one wanted to be associated with someone who had previously been the star quidditch player. Her grades fell, her behaviour became nothing short of atrocious and the institute saw no other option than to transfer her to another school ; Hogwarts .
