Sure, most of selene's children nowadays are born from human fathers, but Sunghoon just isn't the case. He falls in the category of his mother's original lover (Ambrogio) who was cursed to become a Vampire. When Selene died before turning into a Goddess he drank from her, and their combined blood was used to create offspring. Every year a drop of this precious fluid is released, allowed to form itself into a living being. Sunghoon's year of birth just happened to be 1980.
As his mother has no place to reach him and his father has gone into hiding Sunghoon was raised by the worshippers of his mother's small temple (most cults in favor of the next Moon Goddess Artemis it's the only one now in existence). Sunghoon was taught how to control both his hunger and his Godly power, but before he could continue his lessons the temple was attacked by a group of pure vamp-ires (who have an extreme hatred towards children of Selene). They killed almost every worshipper save for a maid that protected sunghoon, stealing him away and making the long journey to Camp halfblood. He was only seven-years-old at the time.
Seeing as he was the first child of selene to be introduced to the camp there was no place for him to say, no one to guide him like the other campers. Instead of becoming like the godly children around him Sunghoon came to work at the Camp, first as a busboy before he took on other jobs. It kept his mind off what had happened. After a few scuffles and a good talking to from one of the counselors Sunghoon decided he wanted to do something more to help. Over the years he took lessons from each person he met, and wound up becoming the camp's guidance counselor.

3. Another issue Seeing Sunghoon acting so brightly all the time you just assumed he'd never had anything bad happen to him. You're proven wrong when you find him a sobbing mess near the barrier of the camp.
4. "there's no need to be afraid." he purrs, red eyes glinting dangerously in the light of the moon. "I'll only take a little."
5. "I don't really get close to people." Leaning into your touch he closes his eyes softly. It's comfortable, the two of you resting like this. "Not because I'm scared of them - I just, don't want them to be scared of me." *Minhyuk
6. "We have the same mother, why's it that hard to understand?" he asks, but it's no longer in an angry tone. Tears fall and you realize he's crying. "I didn't ask to be born like this. Don't hate me, please..."
