As the son of the prime minister, Gong Yoo never wanted for anything. Even after the bombs fell on Pyongyang, and the fallout travelled south—across the DMZ—he and the rest of his family were safely transported to a multi-family shelter complex deep underground. Growing up, he was surrounded by some of the brightest minds in Seoul, and his father oversaw his education personally from age twelve. He was to be groomed into one of the key political figures in Seoul during the subsequent reconstruction, years later. He was appointed as the new Minister of Unification, due to nepotism, a few years after emerging from the shelter. For Yoo, the world bombings became opportunity, rather than catastrophe.

Yoo was present during the signing of the Seoul Treaty, just a young man of twenty-eight at the time. Though he lacked much influence then, many of the politicians that had been democratically elected to their posts fell ill: some died due to radiation poisoning, a few of the younger women in childbirth, and the cause of death for others is uncertain. Even though some suspect foul play on the part of the "old boys' club" present in parliament, no one has proved dumb enough to say anything. The only thing that is certain, is that Yoo himself is one of the wealthiest men left in Seoul, and that through his connections (most notably in parliament, and to Maltech™) he has managed to escape nearly every restriction since placed on Seoul's citizens.

absolute power

The corrupt politician didn't die out when the world was nearly destroyed, if anything, corruption was no longer a worm at the heart of an apple, but a steel talon tightly gripping a weakly beating heart. Yoo is but one of those talons, however, he has the power to do as he pleases in modern day Seoul. His ultimate goal is to one day see a single Korea, rather than North and South, and the end justifies any means to him—regardless of the suffering he might inflict on others in the process.

Someone who likes to argue for the sake of arguing, rather than for any particular outcome, Yoo is often known to play the part of devil's advocate. He's damn good at it too. The purpose of any argument is simply to get better for the next debate, and he will use any tactic at his disposal, no matter how dirty, to prove his position. Yoo's career demands that he be able to sell a polished turd—and you won't find a better salesman. With the exception, perhaps, of the suits at Maltech™.

A hedonist, Yoo's personal life is driven by the pursuit of good food, better , and enough material diversions to fill up the black hole at the center of his cold heart. Getting in between him and his earthly pleasures, however, is a sure way for someone to disappear. Those who earn his scorn often appear sometime later, disoriented, scarred, and with poor memory of anything that happened prior to seeing his predatory grin.
