Demeter is the Goddess of the Harvest and agriculture. She works hard everyday with her job... Well, she did at one point in time at least. Demeter's daughter Persephone was taken from her one fateful day by none other than Hades, the King of the Underworld. Demeter was struck with grief in the months that her daughter was gone, causing the crops on Earth to wither and die. Demeter was therefore filled with hate and rage which led to her true belief that Hades was holding her poor daughter captive in the Underworld. Demeter annoyed Zeus about this to no end and made her brother force Hades to send Persephone back... But the visit home for her was only temporary due to the fact that Persephone ate the Pomegranate seed that was to link her to Hades forever.

Upon finding this out, Demeter was angry at her daughter for doing something so foolish, but she soon embraced her anyways... Better to do so while she was home with her. Upon spending time with Persephone in those few months, Demeter doesn't see why her daughter is so infatuated with Hades.

When the hotel was finally built, Demeter stays in the East Wing of the hotel in her room, which overlooks the garden. When her daughter comes to visit, the room is vacant. But when her daughter is gone, the room is occupied and full of dying plants.

Demeter's personality is complex. While she is kind, motherly, optimistic and determined, she is also difficult, overprotective, strict, a bit dishonest sometimes and a cold hearted person. Demeter is stubborn and stuck in her old fashioned ways of doing her job of making sure crops and such grow and are healthy. Not only is she stuck in her ways, she also is a very strict mother and a difficult person, especially when her daughter is in the Underworld. She is a bit dishonest because she lied to a few of her fellow Gods and Goddesses about Persephone and Hades. In a bout of spite, she told them that Hades stole her daughter from her when in fact Persephone willingly went with him in order to get away from her strict and demanding mother.

Demeter does not see the error in her ways as a mother and has not changed since her daughter had been "taken" from her. In addition to being a loving but difficult woman and mother, Demeter nags and dotes a lot as well.
