Most are pretty familiar with the tale of princess kaguya. Young girl found inside a bamboo tree by a bamboo cutter. the man takes her in as a daughter. she grows into a beautiful maiden. later she is set up to meet these five men who come from prestigious families. she gives them impossible tasks for them to prove their love or whatever. all of them fail and suddenly the emperor wants a piece of her. and yet, before they could further their friendship, princess kaguya is taken back to the moon; forgetting her life on earth. ... the story is somewhat like that. yet not many are aware of the sequel to this legend.
legend has it that although she had forgotten what was her life like on earth, she ended up singing for no apparent reason whenever her eyes laid upon planet earth; crying coming afterward. the princess did not understand why she felt so much hurt, so much longing when she stared at planet earth. what's interesting is that she was not the only one who had gone through the same process. for, before kaguya visited earth, there were many other moon beings who visited earth but there was this woman she recalled of singing a song she could not comprehend at first. kaguya couldn't comprehend why the lady cried when staring at earth neither.
witnessing the distress of that of the princess and those others who had gone through a similar process, the heavenly leaders of the moon granted these people another chance to go back to earth yet under two conditions. First, they would be born as full humans. no clicky-clicky magic. nothing that would make them seem out of the ordinary. second, each would carry the mission to save the world with some act of kindness. if the mission was a success, the one carrying the mission along with those saved would spend their peaceful eternity at the moon kingdom. although if the mission ended unsuccessfully, the person realizing the mission would go back to the moon kingdom and again lose their memories from the earth; living an eternity of some loss in them.
the conditions seemed pretty easy for princess kaguya until it was furthermore added that once she'd reside upon a human body her memories of the moon and herself would erase. in other words, she had to keep an open mind and heart as a human for her to realize her true purpose on earth. it would be her job to realize her true identity as well.
kaguya was hesitant toward the risks of taking over a human body but her love for planet earth was far bigger than her fear. and once she accepted the mission, she was born again into the newborn body of zhou jieqiong.
zhou jieqiong is the daughter of a businessman and a florist. she works in the family business because one of her dreams is to bring happiness to people through flowers and their beauty. her family owns several flower shop chains in other places in the world. her parents spoil jieqiong since before her birth her mother had around three miscarriages. therefore, she's the miracle baby for those two.
her parents set her up in blind dates with suitable men by the end of each month--to which her princess kaguya memories kick in at times.
although she may be spoiled rotten by her parents, jieqiong has always managed a humble character; always caring for those around her. she's sweet, kind, and her favorite thing is to laugh. she loves dealing with plants, insects, and animals of all kind.
princess kaguya definitely resides in her.
