intro: routine

growing up, taemin wasn't anybody special. he was born and raised in a small town, an only child to his mother and father. his father was in high leadership in their church, and in turn, his parents were overprotective, strict, and had none less than high expectations for him – so high, that they were nearly unattainable. all throughout elementary and middle school, taemin's schedules were jam-packed: multiple music lessons, honors courses, soccer practices (he hated soccer), and tutoring – every day. needless to say, after years of living basically imprisoned by his parent's wishes, taemin was absolutely drained and over-socialized.

chapter 1: abandon

in his early years as a teenager, he'd grown accustomed to his upbringing, though by this time he'd learned that being constantly busy and having no chance to practice personal hobbies wasn't something all teenagers his age had to deal with. as he progressed in his early years of high school, he'd begun to gain a voice of his own. fights between him and his parents became more and more frequent. he no longer believed everything his parents told him about religion or how his life should be led – those things were simply what his parents wanted taemin's life to be, not what he actually wanted for himself. one day, in a fit of rage during the middle of a fight at dinner,  each of his parents' plates of food were set in flames. that day, taemin discovered his magic ability. in his town, those who weilded magic were seen as outcasts, and taemin's parents had the same view on the special powers only few attained. at the age of 15, only a day after his powers were discovered, taemin's parents kicked him out of their home, completely cutting him off from any contact or support.
