known to the navajo culture as the yee naaldooshii, or rather, the skin walker, hakyeon is an immortal shape shifter as well as a voodoo priest. after lots of rejection, angry mobs, and fear surrounding the skin walker, he decided it was best to travel the world, both as a human and as a wolf, coyote, crow, fox - or whatever suits his fancy that evening (or century - he's spent years simply running in the wild along with some animals whenever he's bored with the human world.)

despite being a figure of fear and terror in the human world, hakyeon is rather mellow. he's lived a long, long time, and his days of terrorizing humans have long passed. he doesn't steal faces and bodies anymore, he's realized there's more to life than just striking fear into the hearts of many and has decided to try to be a decent human being (even though he's not human, really). his efforts are shown in the way he's moved into a city of magic to meet other like minded creatures. however, as hard as he tries, a lack of interaction with humans that doesn't involve sheer terror makes him seem like an - when in reality, he's just clueless about social cues and what not. this makes him blunt, careless, aloof, and even prudish, but he's actually just really, really awkward.

hakyeon has a long, dark, painful, and bloody history. his mother died when he was young, and as a result, his father became obsessed with dark magic. hakyeon was forced to attend every ritual, every ceremony that involved blood being spilled, both human and animal alike. eventually, he learned the ways of the ánt’įįhnii along with his father, and together, they were known in their village as the most powerful pair of witches. little did he know that his father intended to kill him during one of the ceremonies to achieve clizyati, the highest rank of pure evil, one that would give him the power to be a skinwalker. hakyeon realized what his father had planned for him, and in a fit of anger, murdered him. he then became what his father had intended to be, and spent many, many years living up to the name of pure evil, terrorizing and murdering humans everywhere.

Suprisingly, hakyeon ended up getting sick of it. he was feared, yes, but it was getting boring, disguising himself as a weary traveller and murdering humans in the most creative ways he could think of. he spent some years practicing voodoo magic, aside from the medicinal magic he'd learned before. he'd also spend centuries with the different animals whose forms he could take, finding them to be much more agreeable than some humans. eventually, he'd mellowed out, and was no longer the evil skinwalker he had become all those years ago. he tried to live among the humans, but had mostly gotten cast out due to his carelessness of performing magic out in the open or transforming into a crow to go for a midnight ride. once he'd heard about the city of magic, he'd decided to inhabit it in an attempt to regain the humanity he'd lost as a younger skinwalker.

who let the dog in || (fluff, m/f, closed) - you have a penchant for animals, SO when a wounded wolf shows up in the middle of the street, you can't just leave it alone. you take it home with you and nurse it to health, and it seems very grateful, but it's not a wolf at all. it's just hakyeon, wounded from a bout with a hunter that didn't know what he was shooting, making him too weak to retain his human form. he's not too sure how to break it to you, however.
