jimin's always been a pretty happy child. born in busan, south korea, he went to seoul with dreams of making it big. and for some time, these dreams seemed like they were ready to be realized - he'd gone to seoul after doing well in an audition with gy entertainment, one of the largest entertainment industries in south korea. he soon discovered that wasn't necessarily the case. after going to seoul, he discovered that basically everyone was better than him, everyone was capable, everyone was gorgeous, and everyone seemed like they could debut before him.

that was when he first realized how difficult it was really going to be to debut. you could've said he'd basically viewed the world with rose-tinted glasses beforehand; it wasn't until he went to seoul that he truly got a reality check. but jimin didn't let that phase him. he worked, harder than ever, and there were multiple opportunities where he, just barely, missed the cut for debut. one girl group or other was decided to debut before the boy group, some members were swapped out and they were deemed not ready for debut; over and over, this happened.

and it really all came to a head when jimin's mother got sick. it didn't turn out to be anything life-threatening in the end, but she had been hurt; badly enough to have to stay in the hospital for a long time. he canceled his contract with gy entertainment (luckily for him, they'd been just about ready to transfer him to a different company anyway, and so hadn't charged him too grotesquely for backing out ahead of time) and got on the first train to busan.

a good few months later, and he was back and rearing to go again. he'd tried all the part-time gigs since he'd only graduated high school, but the need to be on a real stage had bothered him continuously. his mom had urged him to go back to seoul, unwilling to let her son part with his dream for her sake. and jimin, feeling that ache in his bones to just perform, finally submitted. he'd contacted some of his hyungs for a new audition survival show, and here he was, ready to fight for his life in the entertainment world.
