He is the youngest out of eight boys and is from Sanya, Hainan province, china. Donghyuk tends to be more on the cocky side with his talents but he does mean well. He is dedicated and hardworking yet playful with friends. Donghyuk moved back a forth from the resort his parents owned back in Sanya and school in Shanghai before he transferred to one of the best schools in Beijing. At around nine, he met Choi Minki and slowly became friends with him. Donghyuk had begun to compete in many competitions against Minki but wasn't as good as him. Usually getting one of the top three spots, he was known as the cool, city boy by his fans and judges alike. Many companies wanted him to join them as am actor or as a model but he decline since he wanted to become an idol like his older brothers. It wasn't until after his seventeenth birthday that he decided to audition for companies around Beijing before he moved to Seoul with one of his brothers and tried his luck there. For a about two months, he was a trainee at a company but left after finding out that the ceo was having an affair with a trainee. He almost gave up on becoming an idol before turning to phoenix entertainment after hearing about it.
