beauty is ubiquitous, inherent in many things; but it embraces variation and is therefore never stagnant. jeonghan isn't the tortured artist archetype. he doesn't birth new worlds with his imaginative prowess, doesn't have the ability to etch vivid vermillion and yellow suns and pale moons and stars onto canvas ー even his manner of speaking, slow and smooth and a bit antiquated ー all it alludes to is a bit of latent romanticism within him that he doesn't feel like letting go of. jeonghan's specialty is not being special. he finds charm in the tousled, mousy brown locks of a lover exhausted from passion, in the sway of hips from a confident gait. he sees a woman, hassled and hurrying about her day, and thinks of the story behind her impatience. he embraces darker emotions like anger, betrayal and dissatisfaction, sweeter things like affection and joy ー drags them out, takes his time with each so that he can understand. it is not just to fuel his chosen medium, either. though it does give his pen a bit more surety, jeonghan does these things for his own development. he might have been born into an ordinary household with ordinary ails (divorce), but he believes that an extraordinary existence stems from the little bit of extra one allows. he doesn't seek out fantasy because there's still a lot he wants to know about what's in front of him. why dream of new suns when the one in his sky is still burning? why formulate nonexistent troubles when trouble emerges from the simple dialectic between humans? he hears his coworkers finding merriment in a perceived enemy's suffering, watches his lovers' distrust because of his dreamy inattentiveness. he is told of a friend's decision to start a relationship, even when they know the odds are not in their favour. all of these things and more contribute to a heady drive to exist, to /know/... .
 

despite the strong introspective element present in jeonghan's persona, on the surface he seems quite superficial ーif not a bit wishy washy. he's a bit hot and cold, because he enjoys company but is rather cynical about people's motives in approaching or befriending him. he'll never allude to that out loud, but he'll 9/10 times be thinking it. he loves attention and physical contact, but only when he initiates it or when he's made it obvious that he'll be receptive to receiving such. fickleness is perhaps his greatest flaw, because he fixates intensely on something when he's interested, but once he figures out the puzzle he either becomes bored or comfortable, and the latter is usually perceived as indifference by his victims. he doesn't mind routine, but he hates being questioned or doubted and that's something that contributes to his distaste for committed relationships. he does, however, love small animals and children; taking care of things brings a kind of peace that lasts, somehow. is ritually blunt, inaPPROPRIATE and somewhat sadistic.
