where she's from: yerim was an outcast in her village because her father was a criminal conman. she was lonely and just wanted somebody to play with. the only person to play with her was her conman father who adored her. he taught her how to be a conman through games. he died and was buried at the crossroad. yerim asked a crossroad demon asked if she could join him in his job, thinking he was just a common conman - badabingbadaboom - she became a crossroad demon 
where she wants to be: yerim simply just wants to have people to play with her eternally. but because she's relatively new to her job and wants to keep it, she's determined to get stronger, collecting souls so she could become more powerful. although her goal right now is to just have people to play with, she could easily fall into a spiral of greed and aspire to play with things bigger than herself.
