Hayley kiyoko, born as hayley kiyoko alcroft, grew up in what is referred to as either a 'big town' or a 'small city' depending on who you asked. Her father was the owner of several department stores in the area, so she grew up in more-than-comfortable living.

In her junior year of high school, she met who she thought would be the love of her life, kim jinhwan, who was only a freshman at the time. the two of them dated for a total of four years before they broke up. during their time together, hayley had come to terms with a lot of things about herself, and she felt that she might be more into girls. Being the faithful girlfriend that she was, she could never experiment to find out while she was with Jinhwan. her morale wouldn't allow her to do that. because of this, hayley struggled a lot toward the end of their relationship, and she eventually broke it off when Jinhwan asked her to marry him at the end of their senior year.

after their breakup, jinhwan and hayley lost communication with each other, but for different reasons. Jinhwan was probably upset about the way in which he had been rejected, and hayley was just ashamed to show her face around him after that. it wasn't until her father passed away that they started talking again. jinhwan, with hayley's father having been like a second father to him for so long, showed up to the funeral, and that's when they finally became friends again.

sometime after hayley and jinhwan started talking again, they both found this little town that was left abandoned many years back. togehter, they bought the town, and they decided that they would try to repopulate it with people.
