Ryan's humanity slipped away from him sometime during his mid-twenties when a hiking trip went awry. There are only a few potential outcomes when you're lost in the woods with no supplies, and the adage "eat or be eaten" is never truer than after twelve days of subsisting on a handful of berries that the friend you went hiking with discovered too late were poisonous. Ryan took the risk in order to survive, and though he was rescued several days later, his "greed" didn't go unpunished. For the past decade he's tried to find ways to deal with the hunger, though he often succumbs to it regardless of his own desires.
