biography
Since Dahyun was just a young girl, she always tried her best. It wasn't like her parents were super strict in her upbringing, but she wanted to make them happy. Anything they seemed happy about, she made sure to keep it up. Getting good grades in school? Dahyun made sure to take good notes and study to keep up the straight A's. Instead of taking a couple free periods like her fellow classmates, Dahyun had gone for picking up a music or art class, home economics. She excelled in each class, making sure to stay on top so she wouldn't disappoint her parents. She even took part in several extracurricular activities. Maybe this was the reason they continued to expect the best from her. Graduating high school at the top of her class with honors was something her parents didn't even blink at.
Even with Dahyun's friends, she made sure to always do whatever they wanted, make them happy. Dahyun lived for her family and friends. However, Dahyun could never really bring herself to call them her close friends. They hardly even knew her. Could it be her fault for not putting in more effort to let them in?
The people around her only knew how to take and receive. When do people realize that they should be giving back? Not that Dahyun is looking for anything in return from her friends and family. When did it become so common for her to just do and not expect a "thank you" in return? At what point did her parents stop congratulating her when she brought home another award or A+? It became the norm that Dahyun was so terrified of doing any less in front of them. If she suddenly wasn't at the top of her class, would they be angry?
It was when she received the key to Magic Shop that she found what she had been secretly craving. A welcome. A listening ear. She felt wanted, appreciated. She could freely voice her thoughts, wants, interests without a fear of being judged.
