youngjo was born to a young and reckless couple also had powers. they would encourage youngjo to use his as "practice" in controlled environments, to make him as good as a user as they were. they were under control and the whole family was surprisingly happy- until his parents got too gutsy with their own powers in trying to save hostages of a mafia, causing the 3 of them to become the hostages instead. his parents were brutally murdered that day, but the members of the group seemed to find potential in youngjo. they decided to raise the boy as one of their own, teaching him the mindset and moves he would need to survive in such a place. the members decided that they needed to rinse youngjo of his old life and old characteristics- and the first step to that was a new name.

youngjo was granted the alias of ravn, and to this day, he doesn’t know the reason behind the name- just that he found it cool when he was younger, and still does. even if the alias has been tainted with almost all the negative experiences of his life. at least it wasn’t tainted with the yells and cries of dying parents. youngjo was young enough to pick up everything very quickly, and he adapted to the mafia mindset just as quickly. gain money and power over anything. stay in each other’s favor or get backstabbed. those were the main things he got used to. being taught how to fight at such a young age also caused the boy to become quite strong, and get good at combat. of course, there’s still limits to his raw strength due to the absolute lack of technique, but for street fights.. ravn was called their secret weapon for a reason. he’s an adaptable and strong fighter, at least in their arena.

of course, being so used to all of this mafia behaviour since he was young made him a quick choice to become one of the higher ups in the group, and ravn took the position with grace. he became the one who dealt with outside groups, emergency situations and well- anything. after all, ravn was practically like the boss’ son. although the boss himself would probably only define it as right hand man. but either way, ravn was practically raised by the male. doesn’t mean he respected him, though. ravn never handed out respect for everyone around him. maybe he did when he was a young and foolish child, but now.. ravn has seen so much betrayal more than just the words he had memorized- to be honest, he has no faith in others. he just finds others and their actions amusing more than important, and his words can be very belittling due to his beliefs.

although the group had years of power to their name, nothing goes on forever. they would be busted, and the whole operation and group was shut down. ravn realized he needed to prioritize himself as an individual first, and he stole a large amount of the mafia’s funds before running and barely managing to escape from the police. after that whole experience.. the male realized he wanted to know more about himself. perhaps continue on the road that he had left behind. and that's how he ended up enrolled in this school, ready to explore those hidden powers once again, and trying to put his dark past away for the sake of being a "hero". Personality: when it comes to his personality, the boy has two distinct parts. the self created by his mind (ravn) and the self that he was born with, that has been locked up in a corner of his heart (youngjo). Ravn’s not very talkative, preferring to observe other people.. He uses others as a source of entertainment, because at some point- he just became so good at predicting how people act that he just finds people’s actions funny now, funny that they’re all the same. at least in his mind. ravn believes that everyone is selfish and will always choose themselves over others, so everyone’s intentions should always be doubted. he would never let himself fully trust someone, but he knows that to survive in the world, /he/ needs people to trust him. that’s why, during his mafia years, he became extremely good at simulating emotions. he would read the situation and change his tone and try to emulate an emotion to elicit the response he needs, or to get him out of situations. these are the only times that he’s “youngjo like”, as he’ll try to emulate emotions off of what his heart should tell him to do- but he never lets himself fully listen to it, or fully get into that state. It’s always emulation and never the real thing. That’s what he needs, because he knows that trusting people and opening up to them- showing his true self- only leads to betrayal. so he builds his walls high, trying his best to seem normal while also trying to block out the other person, so that he will never feel sympathetic to anyone. he knows that’s only a hindrance in the end. His hidden self, on the other hand- is a lot more delicate. That’s the more heroic part, where he knows everything that he knows as an overall person- but rather than conforming to it like ravn does, he’d rather fight out against it and teach people the importance of a team, of having others. This part is a lot more sympathetic and kind, just wanting everyone to benefit in life. youngjo never started out selfish, and still isn’t. Ravn, though, is the only person the world is allowed to see. and perhaps he is selfish, but he could argue the same about anyone else. He just adapted to what the world asked of him, after all.
