“I just wanted to help her.”
How many times had he repeated those words? It had to have been over a thousand by now, maybe even over ten thousand. The questions always came though, and he always gave them the same response. She was his mother, of course he wanted to help her. He loved her, she wasn’t perfect but she was his mother. He knew that she had loved him, she told him that all the time growing up before the sickness warped her mind and changed her. Before her platonic kisses turned to something else, and the innocent hugs turned to wandering hands. She had been a good person once, she had been kind and sweet. When she was still a good person, she had been Junkook’s whole world. Then the sickness struck and he had to watch his world slowly fall to madness.
She was beautiful, everyone was so captivated by that aspect of her. She had a lovely voice, they called her an Angel. She was what every young woman aspired to be, even with the young son on her hip. She was a model mother, a success story in every way. She came from nothing and rose to stardom with looks and talent that could take her far. For a long time things were perfect, and Jungkook held on to those warm memories. Something changed in his mother though, around the time he turned twelve. It started with little things; she was more forgetful than usual, losing her wallet or her keys, forgetting something she had just said or done. Then came the odd mood swings, where she would go from singing in the car with him to sobbing, or snapping at him to be quiet. Over time those oddities began to become more and more frequent and within a few years she was hardly the mother he had known and loved so dearly.
She told him that she loved him, and he believed her. He knew that it was true, but when that love started to get obsessive he didn’t know what to do. She pulled him out of school, away from his friends. She moved him to a new city, insisting he had to stay with her and her alone. He was fifteen when she came into his room the first night. He loved his mother, of course he did. He didn’t want to upset her. He wasn’t okay with it though, he knew it was wrong and when he told her that she threatened to kill herself if he rejected her or told anyone. So he kept quiet for a year and a half before he realized he couldn’t anymore. He went to the cops and he told them what was going on. He wanted his mother to get help, he wanted the sickness to be treated so he could have his real mother back. He never got that chance.
She slit her wrists in the bathroom before the cops could arrive. She left a note near the tub, telling her little boy how sorry she was. She never meant for it to come to this. She loved him so much, and she hoped that someday he could forgive her. What she didn’t know is that he already had.
Now he works to help others, hoping that he can treat the sicknesses that plague them so they don’t take their own lives the way his mother had.

personality
Jungkook is a good boy. He’s a sweet kid with a heart of gold who just wants to save the world. He believes in second chances, and third, and fourth, and fifth chances too. He believes that there is good in everyone, and that people aren’t fundamentally bad. He is naive above all else, and he is very aware of this. He’s highly intelligent, and he knows when he’s being manipulated or taken advantage of. He just lets it happen because he chooses to believe that if he shows good to people then they will show good to him as well. He sincerely thinks that by believing someone is good you can make them good. That’s why he came to Eternity Glade, he wanted to work with the people that society had thrown away to show them that not everyone in the world had given up on them. He knew that there were very sick and very cruel people here but he also knew this was where he needed to be. He hadn’t been able to save his mother, but he knew that his mother would have ended up in a place just like this had she lived. He would try to save as many people as he could to make up for failing her.
