Ji Hyeran was born and raised in Bronx, New York to a Social Worker father and a mother who is an elementary school teacher. She is an only child so can be a bit spoiled but she hung out with a lot of her male cousins who were all like big brothers to her. Many people say that she acts more like a guy than a girl as well.

When she was 6, she moved to South Korea where her parents put her in Shaolin Kung Fu which she has now mastered. When she was 8, she discovered her love for dance and was trained by the best dancers her parents could find in many different types of dance with her specialty being hip hop dance and modern dance. She started to receive voice and singing lessons from the age of 10 and got her first gig doing a kids commercial. For the next four years, Hyeran would attend school while being tutored in languages as well as being a part of the cast of Mickey Mouse Club and having small roles in dramas.

For High School, Hyeran studied abroad in Japan where she joined an entertainment company. Originally meant to debut as a soloist, she was transferred to another company that never debut her. She switched to another company in Korea, marking her return to her motherland. Working as a freelance choreographer, she got picked up by another company that would debut her in a group. However the group disbanded before even debuting and the company went under. Despite that Hyeran always takes a positive outlook on life.

Recently her parents told her that she's been engaged from age 18 to some son of a rich family, however she's never met him nor even knows his name. She has been trained from a young age to be the "perfect wife" but she's not too keen on getting married so early. She continues to work as a freelance choreographer mostly for Zeta but will work for other artists or companies.
