The youngest of three brothers, Jooheon was very sheltered as a child. One brother 13 years older and another 8 years meant that Jooheon often felt the age gaps between him and his brothers. His father passed away when he was young, and it devastated the whole family. Luckily Money was never an issue, as his older brother DOnghae was a member of a household name in kpop groups.

At the tender age of 16, Jooheon started his career as an underground rapper. He began writing and producing his own songs that he would then perform. Forming a quartet with some friends, they became pretty popular which lead to him getting picked up by YG Entertainment by age 19. However after a year of training, the decided not to add him to their male trainee groups so he left and went to Starship where he would strengthen his singing abilities. After training for another three years He was eventually traded to Zeta where he is now.
