Let's address the elephant in the room when it comes to Marina Valentina LeStrange: her surname. Niece to the infamous Bellatrix, when Marina was born her pureblood parents were harrowed by the fact that although she had magical tendencies, she could not really perform magic. Ultimately she did end up attending the Beauxbatons but dropped out, only to later be offered admission to Filotimo after being cast out from the LeStrange clan. This is why she is not a squib: Marina is an Animagus, and not just any kind -- her Animagus is a Hungarian Horntail. Though it seemed her talent was a bit more natural born, yet she is not a Metamorphagus because she cannot shift into anything else. Though, she is also granted immunity from fire, and has an alarming knack for creatures. Even when she shifts out of dragon form, she can still communicate with animals and therefore they are immediately attracted to her. Her status is her biggest secret, and the only soul who knows other than herself is her friend Paloma. Everyone else has the notion that she's just a bad student who doesn't apply herself, but because of her name and history she rose to fame amongst the other students. Mar is quite the partier, not putting any effort into school outside of the Care of Magical Creatures, and instead spends her time going on drug/ binges. Despite being the kinder and cooler of the Lestranges, she still has the Bellatrix crazy gene.
