when he was young, yohan was always a step ahead of others. always a step outside of the boundaries set for him. the rules would say for him to only socialize within the castle, to be in his room at a certain time and be watched at /all/ times but yohan would make it impossible for any of the rules to be followed. he would always sneak out of the palace quickly and go play with any random kid he found on the streets, learn about them and their way of living, their way of playing and small things like that. yohan always tried to be outside the palace and the borders established for him as much as possible, loving the outside world rather than the world he was being trapped inside of. he was a little bit of a problem child for that reason, but well. when yohan settled down for once, he'd listen well and was a generally polite and sweet boy. he just had an imagination and curiosity too big for his own good. and why was it too big? because it almost lead to his death. with age, he made more public appearances and his face, name, and all were slowly becoming more and more attached with the association of royal and prince. but he still had that same curiosity living inside him, so he still went out- of course with a little bit of disguise now, compared to when he was younger. but that disguise was still not enough, and a citizen that seemed to have a big grudge against the royals had grabbed him into darkness, almost choking the boy into death alongside the nastiest words yohan has heard. if it weren't for the royal guards noticing he was gone and looking for him once again, he would have been a complete goner that day. ever since then, yohan started to follow the rules very well. he let himself be pushed back into the tiny restricted square of the world that was to be his life, out of the pure fear of what would happen if he did not. he lost a lot of his youthful qualities that day, becoming lots more empty, and slightly pessimistic too. after all, he had always liked the citizens and liked being around them, but to hear that they thought of him this way was.. shocking, to say the least. despite that, such endless amounts of curiosity could not just be removed-- but rather hidden inside him, as it still exists and he wants to follow it, but everyone and the pessimist feelings are telling him not to. in the end, yohan puts on an act that he’s fine, that he isn’t repressing himself and that he’s as tidy and responsible and “perfect” as he seems on the outside.
