although closely protected by his mother, jaehyun can't help but follow his cop father's footsteps being a man of law. he saw him as a good man, a lover of the people, and fighter for independence. but the more jaehyun acted on his beliefs, the more he got in trouble for it.
jaehyun was a troubled child. he would disrupt class and tease fellow classmates he thought were weaker than him. it was notably the most he spent with his father. while his mother, on the other hand, scolded him every chance she gets. he didn't understand why. but the older he got, the more he understood his father's intentions.
all throughout high school, jaehyun cleaned up his act and stopped talking to his father all together - just like his mother wanted. of course, being a teenager, he was going through intense changes and looked towards self-medicating as a way to meld the hole between his mother and father. at this point in time, they were divorced and lived in vastly different sides of spectrum. going back in forth, switching sides between them, it made him feel used and he lived like an empty shell. he'd go to parties and waste away with bottles grasped in his hands just enough to feel like he had control over his life. he hated it and he knew he needed a way out.
despite going through all that, jaehyun was able to withstand his good grades and actively participate in a few school events. he was undoubtedly a people pleaser and a majority adored him for it. when it came to university, he more so focused on cracking his father's case through his academics. slowly but surely, he became obsessive with crimes and the psychology behind them. he goes as far as to get in contact with the mafia in order to prove his theories, which wasn't hard with his father's past and connections.
jaehyun is polite though passive aggressive. he acts with emotion and impulse. regardless, he knows his copping mechanisms are terrible for his health but he can't help but give in to his vices. his front is that he's cookie cutter and a one dimensional nice guy, however, many close to him sense something odd about him.
