Growing up in a relatively small town knowing basically everyone is one of the worst things you could do to a person, according to Mila. With so many judgemental eyes around her, all of which thinking their child is better than the tiny little immigrant girl from the Ukraine, no one ever though she would amount to much.

Maybe become like her mother, they would say, a hopeless housewife with too many children to feed. Mila didn't do well in school, nor did she really try. Picking up a bad smoking habit at 14 and getting her ity stolen by some drunk dude at a party, a guy she knew since he also started bad habits such as eating his boogers. Mila was known for a few years to be a "maneater", breaking your son's hearts without a second thought. Rumours would spread that she was pregnant, that she had an STD, or that she was going to marry the guy she was "with" because she was pregnant. To this day, Mila remains childless.

It wasn't until she was 15 that her life turned around by the sudden suicide of her father. Wrecked with the guilt of bringing his family into poverty, having one of his five children already pass away because of a illness, the man hung himself the night of his 56th birthday. Mila didn't take it as harshly as her other siblings, though that didn't change the fact that she had been thrown free-falling into the wild world of depression. Mila never labeled it that, keeping those thoughts to herself and not wanting to further worry her mother. One night, her mother took out her grief on Mila, telling her that she will amount to nothing, just like her father. Mila, already dealing with suicidal thoughts and self-harm, had an epiphany one night as she ran away from her house to drown her sorrows out with alcohol and a drunken quickie.

In her second to last year of high school, Mila got straight A's, joined the basketball and soccer team, and became a loyal member of the school's fundraising for charity committee. To say the least, she didn't stop her smoking habit nor the awful habit of breaking men's hearts, she wore her chastity ring for the rest of high school, rejecting any suitor who tried to get into her pants. Mila, though having awful grades before that, somehow got accepted into a Cambridge University for sciences, specializing in biology and psychology.

To this day, Mila still has her bad habits, but she's working on it.
