That's the headline that marked the first major change in Jaehyun's life - the death of his mother. You see, before she'd even gone and fallen in love with his father (a regular businessman) and had her first and only child (Jaehyun himself) she was a well-known hero to the people. Her ability of negation was quite useful in not only stopping villains, but keeping them powerless long enough for the police (and army, and government) to detain them, making her quite successful. Which is why it may have been surprising to many when she decided to marry Jaehyun's seemingly unknown father, only famous among his local community for being a kind man with political aspirations.

His parents' story is quite romantic, really. They met on valentine's, a year before jaehyun was born on the same day. Apparently, they were smitten with each other from the first look, and the rest was history. Obviously, Jaehyun's father took it hard when she ended up dying, leaving him as a single parent to Jaehyun who was only on the verge of five years old. Jaehyun's father threw himself into his work, and had jaehyun enrolled into a pre-training junior high for superpowered kids. it kept both of them busy enough that they didn't see each other that often, especially when Jaehyun's father suddenly shot up to political and business stardom in the civilian world.

At school Jaehyun wasn't...liked or disliked, really. Most kids tended to greet him just fine, but no one hung out with the kid that would make you powerless with just one touch. all of them had grown up with their powers, and were scared of being without them. Jaehyun never pushed anyone to be his friend, keeping to himself most of the time, and having a few teachers and staff members to hang out with.

For quite some time his the boy's life was normal (for a superhero's kid), until the age of 16.

Cue headline number two that completely knocked Jaehyun's life off kilter. As it turned out, his father wasn't so civilian as he seemed. he's a supervillain, desolation to be exact, with the power to manipulate and create black holes. Jaehyun never would have found out if he hadn't been in the city at the time of the event, seeing his father's demeanor change right before his very eyes. Even behind the mask jaehyun could tell it was him, that's how family works. Except for the part where his father completely disregarded him when destroying the city and killing all those people, jaehyun getting swallowed in the black hole along with it.

He knows, deep down, that if he didn't have his own ability, he'd be dead now.

Absolute silence, absolute darkness - unable to see, to hear, to feel. that's what it was like for Jaehyun inside the black hole. He couldn't even hear as everyone around him died, their screams lost to the void where no sound or light exists. Even if it only lasted for a minute or two, once he was out the sun felt like it burned, and the city was leveled. his father was nowhere to be seen.

Months later, after undergoing therapy for his trauma, jaehyun was placed back into his high school (for superheroes-in-training as well), but was quickly met with harsh bullying and isolation. It was relentless. "he's your dad, right? doesn't that make you a villain too?" "villain scum!" "evil!" "you were the only one left alive, you must be working with him!" "You're just as bad as desolation!" It was too much. Jaehyun dropped out of the hero life altogether and got enrolled into a normal public school. For two years he lived with a foster family, but it never really felt like a home. he felt like he was intruding (even though they tried to reassure him he wasn't) and when Jaehyun turned 18 he moved out to live on his own.

Once he got into college Jaehyun - unable to let go of his desire to help people - pursued a degree in the psychology field. He wanted to help others, mostly young kids and teens with trouble families, as he went through something similar.

It was just recently, however, that the public school he'd been practice counseling at was shut down. While he still attends classes for the next three semesters Jaehyun needed a steady source of income, and - as much as he'd distanced himself from the world of heroes - ended up becoming a night shift janitor for sora academy (after being contacted mysteriously by one of its staff members). He supposes that for now, as long as he works the night shift and rarely sees anyone, he's okay with it. Jaehyun is still learning and growing, especially from the events he's had to go through, but with his music and his mop he's ready for just about anything。
