Description
she, too, was a normal girl once. jung jinsoul was the youngest child of her family, with two older brothers and an older sister. her parents were well-known in their field, and her siblings, too, were talented. even she was known for her artistic side, and she was among the best in it. it wasn't a stretch to say that the jung's were a family meant for greatness — however, of course, like any semblance of perfection out there, this picture perfect family didn't last forever.
to the jung's, perfection was absolute. but then it was her mother that had first shown weakness, and father didn't allow that. punished for that, the children trembled in fear, aimed to remain as perfect as they could in fear of their father's hand. but as jinsoul watched her siblings succumb to imperfection, she felt number and number, as she realized — they weren't lacking in skills.
it was because they had shown emotion - weakness - that their father had shown no mercy on them. it wasn't because they weren't the best — it was because they had shown a crack in the perfection their father had craved for so much, and jinsoul simply had the fortune of realizing that earlier than any of her siblings did. it was almost as if a switch had been clicked inside her — watching the abuse of her family from a young age had hardened her heart early.
as a result, she turned to art for salvation. the colors she painted, the lines she drew, the images she painted — all of them were a sneak peek into what went on through the closed doors of the jung residence. all of them had been an image of what could have been the emotions in jinsoul's heart, but she had felt numb — so, so unfeeling that even her own art had lost flavor to her own eyes.
the world had become dull — oh so dull, that she had begun to stop enjoying even the art that she made.
the gears to her world started turning again, once she had stepped into high school. it had started as a curiosity, when her father first taught her how to hunt animals. as she watched her father slice the neck of the animal he had caught, as she watched him fire the gun aimed at its body with awfully scary accuracy, she wondered, the tone as though she were merely talking about the change of the weather, how it would have felt, to witness someone else's last breaths.
she wondered, if the crimson color of a living being's blood would bring more life to her paintings and make it stop appearing so empty to her.
first, her victim was the cat in the jung residence. her father asked where it was, but didn't even suspect his youngest, for she had done a spectacular job at living up to what he wanted: perfection.
she used the cat's blood for her paintings. it brought life to them, but it wasn't enough.
her second victim was her mother, who had seemed to loathe her when her mother realized that her husband favored jinsoul more than her. mrs. jung had tried to choke her to death, but like the animal, one slash to the neck was all it took to end her mother's life. jinsoul was brought to court, but being a minor and with the evidence, it ended with a verdict of her self-defense.
she used her mother's blood for her paintings. it brought life to them, but she couldn't stop with just this blood, could she?
the third was her sibling — a mercy killing. the oldest brother, who had acted strong for too long, had succumbed to his weak heart and asked jinsoul to kill him. and so, jinsoul did, still chasing for that high that she found while she watched the light leave their eyes.
his blood, too, was used for her paintings. jinsoul decided she loved this color more than the plain scarlet that the art stores would sell her.
it continued — one by one, the jung's disappeared, died in a way that seemed to involve jinsoul, but she could never be given a verdict of being guilty. her alibis were solid, and try as they might to dig in further, jung jinsoul was a trained hunter — and her father felt a twisted sense of pride over his creation and wished for more control over her.
she refused to be controlled. and so she killed her father — ended him the way he did the animals the two of them caught. she was eighteen when she had lost her entire family. she was eighteen when she defeated the monster that haunted her home.
but then... there was no one else to accompany her in the jung residence. no one, nothing except her paintings.
her murders didn't end with her family. the next, it was a random e out of town. next, it was a beggar that no one would remember. weeks later, it would be a schoolmate of hers that admired her so much. later, after that kill, it would be a classmate, who had done nothing wrong to her, but she still chose him anyway.
she killed, and killed, and killed, all to fill her canvas with the crimson color of a living being's blood — all to make herself some company in the jung mansion. no one has caught her yet, and she preferred it to stay that way. after all, didn't she deserve this? she had always been a good daughter, a good sibling, and a good citizen — surely, she was allowed to have a luxury of her own, no?
personality ;
jinsoul is a playful individual, and she often displays herself as someone who's approachable, though some would argue that she exudes an aura that gives a faint hint to the artistic side of hers that no one else would be able to understand. she presents herself with casual familiarity, and a light air around her.
however do not be fooled by her airheaded facade, for she is actually cunning and devilishly smart. she's known for being mysterious, as her true intentions are never revealed unless she herself reveals them. she lies easily with a straight face, and is capable of bending or manipulating the truth in order to get the outcome she wants. she has complete confidence in what she deals with — whether it be lying to the court or in problems she herself creats. she rarely shows fear in front of her enemies, and refuses to show any kind of vulnerabilities to anyone, as a result of her strict upbringing.
despite not being above using violence, humiliation, and verbal abuse in order to get what she wants, she never loses the elegance and regality that her upbringing has stilled in her. she is often blunt and straightforward, unforgiving with her words if she so decides to be honest with someone, paired with a sharp tongue that very few people are safe from. however, she speaks with a polite and feathery tone, giving an illusion of a soft-spoken lady.
she's a good actress, proven by how she's managed to fool even the court. she's capable of hiding her hatred or annoyance within a carefully built mask. she's rarely seen without smile. it can be said that her smile is her poker face. nevertheless, she shows her care and affections in subtlety, as she has no idea how. due to her father, she has lost the ability of feeling, and she was trained to think more than feel. she is incredibly distrustful, and puts most people at arm's length in order to keep them where they can be easily controlled.
her curiosity is her fatal flaw. she finds it hard to resist the temptation of knowing something, yet she likes to believe that she has good control of herself.
likes ;
blood, crimson, sweets, music, playing instruments (mostly the violin and the harp), art exhibitions, paintings, the smell of old books, libraries, the color blue (surprisingly), dolls, mind games, chess, seo youngho
dislikes ;
nosy people — those who put their noses where it doesn't belong, imperfection, things not going her way, losing control over something
hobbies ;
painting, annoying johnny (seo youngho), murder, collecting blood, going to museums, taking walks in the park
secrets ;
she uses blood as a replacement for the red paint when it comes to paintings. her killings are random. she killed her parents.
fears ;
she doesn't know it yet.
quirks / fun facts ;
1 ;
— she is ambidextrous. she is initially left-handed.
2 ;
— she's a capable hunter. her father taught her for a few years, all of which she caught up with rather easily.
3 ;
— her paintings using her family's blood are displayed in her own personal exhibition.
4 ;
— she has a doll collection at home, whom she may or may not refer to as family.
5 ;
— one can find her playing the piano or the violin if she's not painting. the songs she plays typically reflect what she wants to feel, not what she's currently feeling.
