Eric grew up in the kingdom, his family very close friends with the royal family. Eric was the oldest out of him and his two other sisters. He was tought the ways of sword fighting, He learned every thing in the book he need to know about being a duke, how to get the people of you land to like you, and anything else.
After Erics father died, he took over his positon, and started become more involed with the royals, taking care of his mother and his two sisters. When he met his first wife, she had mentioned getting his sisters married, as it was traditional to set them in arrange marriage, and Eric started looking for suitors for them, until his wife died of an illness. Eric, thought that if they hadn't found a suitor already then they could find one on their own, and not put any pressure on them.
Later Eric was married again, and was married for 3 years before his wife vanished. She didn't tell him she was leaving, there was no evidence of her being kidnapped, nothing. So for a while eric had searched for her. Until one day he gave up. With the rumors floating around somewhere it got mixed up that he was the reason both his wifes were gone. There were rumors that he poisoned his first wife, and maybe even his second.
