Donghae was the second born son of the king and queen somewhere up north. He had both an older brother and younger brother, as his parents never had any daughters. Donghae never wanted be king of his coutnry, so he wasn't jealous of his older brother for being able to take the throne, he was more jealous that he did not get enough attention from his parents as the other to boys did. Despite this, Donghae got along well with his brothers, despite the occasional sibling despute.

It wasn't until Donghae's younger brother had stole his Fianceee from him that Donghae had snapped. He killed both his brother and his fiancee with his own sword. It wasn't until he was pulling the blade out of the chest of his ex fiancee that he realized what he had done. He was both scared and excited. However, his actions didn't go unnoticed as the queen seen as Donghae was trying to get away. 

Wanting to spare her son the travesty she declared that she watched as her youngest son killed Donghae's ex fiance and then killed himself. No one besides his family knew what donghae did. and because Donghae couldn't bare the thought that his family knew he was a murderer, and watching them flinch at his every move he decided to leave the kingdom, and travel. 

Donghae can easily come off as a gentleman. He treats others with respect, in fear that they will find out that he was the actual murderer of his brother. Donghae doesn't like to be viewed as a murderer however he gets some sort of thrill out of doing so. However, he won't even consider it unless the person gave him a reason to do so.
