- jongins first evidence and close encounter with vampires when at age 14. his father had taken in a fourth wife, a 17 year old girl from a rich fishing family on the coast. 10 days after their wedding jongin came home after spending a day at the Buddhist monastery up the mountain, his mother, father, and all the other house hold members including the servants had all been bitten and drained of blood. the only person unaccounted for was his fathers new wife. he never saw her again.
- after becoming an adult he spent years wandering around as nomad, after being raised by zen Buddhist monks and an older retired samurai, he threw himself into his studies and religion. he spent his travels playing savior and hero, all while gathering information on strange demons that got sick from the sun and drank the blood of s.
- he encountered his second evidence of vampires at 19, a year into his solo travels. he found a decimated Japanese village, children with their blood drained and their heads rolling off their bodies. the stench of rotting flesh baking under the sun could be smelled for miles. he had counted 329 dead.
• he continued following the rumors and stories until he finally met one a year later, a beautiful ancient female beast. he fell in love with her at first sight of course. - long story short she turned him and then abandoned him. disgusted by the truth of what she was and what she had turned him into, he vowed to get revenge on her and save humanity from these blood demons. he used his new strength and immortality to track down and hunt other vampires, gathering information on the species history and weaknesses. after years of this, jongin eventually couldn't bear drinking human blood out of sheer guilt, and began feeding off of the vampires he slayed.
