Joohyun was born as the youngest of her parent's litter as there were about seven kits of them altogether. Joohyun was quite babied as a kit and she wasn't quite taught what it was exactly like to be a true kitsune that relied on being a true malevolent spirit like her brothers and sisters. don't get her wrong though - Joohyun does a have very messed up moral beliefs - and really she doesn't have any. Kitsune always live in a gray space where nothing is ever black or white - things are never good or bad - things just happen to you. So what is evil or good to you - is not the same for Joohyun. 

she grew up in a small temple that her parents had added on a rice cake up and cafe that she learned how to make rice cakes and tea from a very young age - and also how to run the whole temple. Joohyun was basically being groomed to be the main shrine maid and caretaker of the temple and rice cake shop. Joohyun is widely gifted in fortune-telling, tarot card reading, and other things a shrine maiden needs to know. Joohyun never went to traditional school so she isn't quite the smartest in terms of book smarts but she wickedly smart in terms of emotional and street smarts. 

when she was about eighteen in human years, she was alone and given the shop and temple to herself to run as her siblings went on their way and sometimes coming to visit or stay when they need to - but Joohyun was alone for a long time expect when people would come to the cafe for her family's rice cakes. She finds comfort in taking in stray animals, pranking others, going to the other worlds to help spirits who are stuck, and making friends along the way.
