It was business trip disguised as a family vacation, but he wasn't complaining, there was so much to look forward to at the time. What his parents didn't anticipate was an outbreak to leave them stranded in a country they barely knew, but they did their best, as parents do.

Everyone  suffered during the outbreak and while some say the children had it the worst, in his opinion, it was the adults. They had a before but not the children, their memory only recognized the present and were able to adapt because of it, the walking monsters became normal, as did death.

They were lucky for the most part and what little remained of their family found a group of survivors that led them to the safe haven. The safe haven wasn't great but it was definitely better than being a lone group surrounded by the infected. Yuta provided for his family becoming close to the doctor of their former group of survivors and training under him.  No one wanted to work for the government even then and with their father gone, it was only natural for him to put his good memoriy to use.

In hindsight, he should have realized that the reason why he didn't join the government was the same for many others. Maybe things would have been different, not that it changes anything, of course. Yuta stayed out of the rebellion, instead helping his family and what few survivors he could gather, to get out of the city during the chaos massacre.

In the process, he was infected and resigning himself to his fate, he stayed behind. He sought mercy from his mentor, who instead helped him through the painful years of his infection and here was where his story truly began. 

After

It was five years of complete utter pain, not only just physically but also emotionally. On good days, he was thankful for the doctor's constant support. On bad days, he would be violent and cruel. On the worst of days, he begged for it all to just end. There was no light at the end of the tunnel for him and it was a difficult pill to swallow, because he knew that he would never be the same.

By the time the dust settled, the doctor had died and left Yuta to assume his position as doctor. He was no actual doctor of course, but doctors were a luxury that didn't really exist anymore and it wasn't like they had many medical supplies either. It's been a decade since he first came to the city, and leaving really didn't cross his mind. Yuta will stay with these survivors until his infection becomes too much and only then, will he put himself out of his misery. 

As a doctor, Yuta's bedside manner leaves something to be desired. He takes care of his patients with a clinical efficiency and a disarming smile, before he sends them on their way as soon as possible. People just tend to grate on his nerves, and with his temperment steadily becoming worse, this was the best option for everyone involved.  

As a person, Yuta has good days and bads days but sometimes even his goods days can seem like bad days. He's distant and indifferent to almost all situations, seeing things from an objective perspective. He comes off as serious and blunt, lacking any sense of empathy (attributed to his infection). 

On most days, he rather just spend time on his own, reading a book or simply sleeping off whatever pains his infection is causing. On good days, Yuta can still find things funny and laugh every now and again, maybe even smile if he feels like it.
