Elizabeth Jean "Busy" Philips is a famous and very celebrated reporter and journalist. Her motto is "Find the facts and get the story." Though she doesn't really live up to her motto because even though she does resort to dirty means in order to get a story, she's still very celebrated in the US nonetheless.
Overseas however, she's seen as low down and dirty because she has been known to audio record people without their consent just so she could have a story to run on her radio show and talk show "Getting Busy with Busy" and "Busy Days, Talking Aways".
She interviews rockstars, groupies, managers, models, fans, and normal everyday citizens with strong opinions on whatever topic she chooses to address.
Busy asks hard hitting questions and her American audience loves it when she asks questions that make people uncomfortable. She has no filter and will ask whatever she wants at any time. Unfortunately, some rock bands have no choice but to go on her shows or be cornered by her and her crew backstage and be interviewed by her unless they want to make it big in L.A.
Funnily enough, she's actually married to the man who is cited as "Rock music's greatest critic" for Creem Magazine, Lester Bangs and he doesn't care if Busy has to sleep with someone to get her stories either, though she usually doesn't since the people she gets her stories from usually can't stand her. She decided not to take her husband's last name because she didn't want to be mistaken for a star if she donned the name Busy Bangs. Busy knows she has haters but as long as she keeps bringing in juicy stories and raking in cash, she could care less.
She's not just controversial because of the way she does her job, but because when she married Lester she was seven years older than him. He was only 20 and she was 27. This made huge waves in the press since even though Lester had just started his career at that time, Busy was already well known because she had filthy rich parents.
Technically speaking, Lester and Busy are both in the same line of work and do the same things but Lester is more of a music reviewer and music critic who is optimistic in his pieces that he puts in Creem Magazine. Whereas Busy is more on the tabloid side of things, she always lurks around for a story whether the people telling the story want it printed or not.
Her marriage to him has it's ups and downs, though when Lester is in town and not in London, Detroit, New York or elsewhere, he's usually by his wife's side supporting her in her work since her work doesn't have her traveling outside of LA.
Another side of their marriage is wrought with drug use, cheating and alcohol. Lester does a plethora of different drugs, Busy only does pills and ecstasy. Her husband enjoys hard liquor but Busy loves martinis and vodka straight up. When it comes to infidelity, Busy cheats on Lester sometimes when he's not in LA, and he cheats on her when he's out of state or out of the country. The couple cheats on each other, but they know the other cheats and are actually okay with it, as long as Lester doesn't get another woman pregnant.
On the topic of kids, Busy and Lester decided that in their line of work, kids would only get in the way. Also neither of them despite their current ages are mature enough mentally to have kids.
Busy is all about her job as a journalist and a reporter, and if someone doesn't like a story she prints or reports or a question she asks a guest on her shows, she doesn't allow them to retract their statements, instead she tries to bargain and reason with them... this is one of her many manipulation tactics.
