short bio ; the youngest princess of silla, a well behaved princess who seemingly listens diligently to her family. she herself studies hard and is very interested in the medical field in particular. the princess wants to continue pursue nursing school, however she wants to be attending with her fellow citizens -  there is conflict within the clan on whether or not she should be allowed to.  it is kept very quiet though and nayeon puts up an iron wall between her private life with her family and her public persona.

personality and other traits ;

- polite, well-spoken, gentle, bright ; she exudes the aura one would expect from a princess. she was obviously taught quite well by the people around her. she is regarded as an almost perfect princess, never getting into scandals, always facing the people. she has a naturally warm, delicate, and bright personality and it has given her the beloved nickname of 'the fairy princess' among silla's people.
- loving and loved ; she is the youngest princess of silla, and as such she is adored and coddled by almost everyone. nayeon is as loving as the people that love her, which makes her incredibly full of love to give and capable of caring for many. if you have a pulse, she probably loves you.
- empathy ; she is full of empathy and tries her best to understand those around her. everything she says, she tries hard to be completely genuine about.  this quality allows her to be a very good listener to whoever needs her ear.  ironically, she's not very good at reading her own family.
- positive ;  nayeon usually have a very positive and bright outlook on life, always looking towards the future.  "i believe in the hope of a better future.  and i believe that the future is overflowing with hope, and we have infinite paths to choose from."
- the people's princess ; as mentioned, she loves her people and her family very much and is always out and about with the citizens. she doesn't seem to care about the barrier between royal and commoner, and she always is breaking that wall between the two. she is a careful listener, and is always seen out and about visiting the local hospitals, cheering up the children admitted, visiting the elderly in their long term care facilities, and ensuring the people know that they are cared for by silla. as such, since chaeyoung is set to no longer be a princess but a queen - the nickname of the people's princess has been passed on to nayeon.
- protective ; as a royal, she fully believes that her role is to protect the people.  that is why two of her very little known hobbies are boxing and swordfighting, two things she's suprisingly well trained at.  she's not the best, but she can hold her own. "a royal is meant to protect the people they rule over. there is no point for the royals if we cannot protect and care for the people we claim to have power over."
- loyal ; she cares extensively for her siblings and is very protective of them. however, as a stark contrast - she seems to not care much for the silla name itself - she only cares about it because it seems that her family cares about it. she cares more for people rather than titles. she is loyal almost to a fault, she is ready to sacrifice everything for something she believes in - even her own life can be forfeit.
- incredible memory ; her memory is probably one of the best in the kingdom. she remembers almost everything she reads and is told - so she's good at studying. however, it also makes her well liked because she remembers even the smallest details that come up in conversation. for the citizens, it makes her even more likable because she remembers about their families and small details about them that they tell her.
- intelligent ; of course, she could not have survived as a royal without growing up with tutors teaching her everything she could ever know.  and she definitely could not survive in the castle being dumb. however, some may feel she's more book smart than anything. she's quite innocent in a way - there are people who have taken special care to ensure her safety.
- secretive ;  there are just some things that are better if kept to yourself.  if she does not fully trust you, there isn't much chance that she will easily let you know about what is on her mind.
- self sacrificing ; the fact that nayeon seems to not have any regard about her own personal safety could be concerning to some if they could notice it. some may even say, she's looking for a way to die. (after all, her death seems like the only way she can prove her love to those she cares for the most. she's the youngest after all, and the most disposable of them all.)

family bonds and how they've influenced her ;
- role model ; even from youth, nayeon's looked up to chaeyoung a lot. she is the heiress to the silla clan, and by default the most important of the siblings, but nayeon feels no jealousy or hatred. she adores chaeyoung and works hard to gain her approval (as much as her mother despises the fact that nayeon looks up to chaeyoung, she also approves of it). on occasion, people call her the younger version of chaeyoung. however, nayeon and chaeyoung are quite distant from each other, there is a space between them because of chaeyoung's desire to protect her sister. as a result, nayeon feels that chaeyoung thinks she is not good enough to be passed her old title of the people's princess and is usually quite sorrowful about it.
- twin brother ; both hyunjin and nayeon were scolded on many occasions for spending so much time together when they were young. no matter how much nayeon tried, it seemed that even being to close to her own twin brother would cause her mother to be angry with her. as a result, the two - despite being "twins" - are awkward around each other. nayeon doesn't understand why she and hyunjin were not allowed to spend time together when they were young, however it has always been one of her biggest regrets. she wants to be close with her brother once again, but cannot find a way to do so.
- opposites ; nayeon and kyungri seem to be on opposite ends looking at each other.  nayeon is the youngest sister while kyungri is the oldest sister.  nayeon was loved from a very young age, while kyungri was treated much differently when she rejected the role of the leading princess.  they've never been very close at all.
- similar yet different ; baekhyun is another "people's prince" so people would assume that would mean nayeon is close with him.  however, despite this, they are actually not close.
- artistic ; while nayeon's always been very influenced and attached to the sciences, it was daeyeol who opened her eyes to the arts and made it a place for her to express her creative side - something she hasn't done often because of her role as a princess.

overall, nayeon seems to share a misunderstanding or major regret with each one of her siblings. however, she still loves them dearly and considers them her world. (after all, who is she without her siblings?). no one else knows how much she suffers on the inside though.  no one knows about the rough relations between the silla siblings.

backstory ;

- the chameleon: the one who knows how to adjust herself to please others.  the chameleon emulates the parts of others she admires, but in turn feels as though she's lost herself in the process.

her story relies on her siblings, because without them she would not be the person she is today.

silla's youngest princess was born from the first lady jeongsuk in the spring along with her older twin, hyunjin.  nayeon was adored from the moment she was born by her mother and grew up with her favor.  nayeon's childhood was mostly bright and beautiful, her mother was stern with her but loving, and always had kind eyes for her.  there wasn't anything particular about nayeon's growth from a child to a teenager.  she was tutored with some of the best teachers in silla, her bright mind nurtured by the elders and cultivated to grow.  she was taught to be a good princess, a wise princess, and a loving princess.  nayeon excelled at learning to be just that.

her mother adored her, but would always scold her heavily for one thing.  nayeon never really got in trouble growing up, but the one thing that would cause her mother to scream at her would be whenever she spent time playing with her twin brother.  for some reason, her mother hated it whenever she went near hyunjin, and always would be angry with nayeon.  hyujin began to maintain a distance from her, something that nayeon assumed was because he also got the same scolding she did for spending time with her.  as a result, it caused her to spend more time with the royal tutors than with anyone else.  she was scared of her mother, and thus it caused her to retreat into herself a bit more.

when she turned 16 years of age, it was the first time she was allowed to visit one of the hopsitals.  it was tradition for the royals to go to the main hospital and visit the children and staff staying and working there.  it was there that nayeon got to witness the wonderful work of the medical personnal at the hospital, and got to understand the patients and ultimately her citizens much more.  in specific, she was amazed at the work of a particular nurse treating one of the cancer patients.  nayeon was told early on that this little boy had little to no chance of survival, even with the most advanced cancer treatments, however it was the nurse there that made the little boy smile, comforted him, even when the needles seemed to be painful for the little boy.  she was inspired greatly by the little boy's bravery, and the nurse's skill and empathy caused her to dream a bit more.  after that, she ended up visiting her eldest brother yunho much more.  his own work with the homeless caused her to decide to get her first-aid certifcation, and start dreaming of perhaps studying to be a nurse herself.  that is when she asked her royal tutors to focus her studies onto the medical field and the impressive work silla was doing in that area.

the royal tutors always sang her praises, complimenting her speed at learning new things, and her incredible memory that was rivaled by no one else in the castle.  they said she was like a younger version of chaeyoung - and that pleased nayeon.  she's always looked up chaeyoung and the way she's held herself, and to hear she was becoming more like her made her happy.  however, it displeased her mother to hear that - and like hyunjin before, she and chaeyoung became distant.  maybe chaeyoung was upset someone like nayeon was being compared to her.

perhaps that was it.

nayeon hated being distant from her people - a trait she perhaps got from her older sister chaeyoung.  she felt that royals were too far away from the people the ruled over, and she was comitted to making herself a bit more accessible to the citizens, hearing out their concerns and taking on as many of their invitations.  from a festival celebrating the first day of summer, to a little girl's birthday party - if nayeon could make the time and get permission - she would attend them all.  when the drought came, nayeon was one of the first people to advocate solutions to feed the people.  when disaster came, nayeon volunteered herself to various positions to assist the wounded.  nayeon would always jump at the chance to help her people. 

this desire to become closer to her people, also caused her to dream of attending school with them.  she was taught by tutors privately growing up - but as her dream grew of becoming a nurse herself and bringing silla's advanced medical care to more people, the more she dreamed of attending nursing school with all the other nurses.  she thought it would be of valuable experience to do so.  however, the family is still divided on if nayeon should be allowed to go.  although it is probably her biggest dream, she doesn't dare to go against her family, she doesn't want to cause any friction.  so when the time came for when most normal citizens would apply to go to university, nayeon stayed quiet about her dream.  she's buried it and it remains mostly a secret between the clan and no one else.

she's now 20, and her dream remains unchanged.  she still wants to go become a nurse, and she still wants the approval of chaeyoung, hyunjin to become close to her again, and overall the love of her siblings.  however she's achieved nothing, in her opinion.  she hasn't started nursing school, hyunjin still avoids her, chaeyoung doesn't talk with her, and yunho still worries over her health.

nayeon will stay quiet though, and she will do her best for her people in the way that she always has.  that is the way her family is happy with her, if she steps outside of the box her mother will be displeased after all.

- likes ; cute things, sunshine, springtime, flowers, ice cream, spending time with her family, travelling, embroidery, knitting, dancing.
- dislikes ;  people who go against her family, sadness, secrets.
- hobbies ;  reading nursing textbooks, taking long walks, taking long runs, boxing, swordfighting, various types of volunteer work, baking.
- has a fascination with tarot readings, despite not being able to do them herself.
- she's been trained on many forms of dance since youth - one of them being ballet.  because of that, she's also quite flexible.
- is very strict on herself on making sure her first-aid certification is up to date at all times.
- after the annual ball, nayeon's started a habit of dyeing her hair often.  one could say she's been influenced by goguryeo's sunwoo.
- while in the hospitals, she sometimes dresses up like a fairy to visit the children and cheer them up.  she takes her role seriously and always tries to grant all of their wishes - within reason of course.  she also puts on shows for the kids at least every other month, putting on a mic and encouraging the children and their parents to dance and sing with her.  she loves bringing joy to children through her fairy ways.
