Some kids had kings for fathers. Others had heroes. Son Chaeyoung had a baker. A trader. A working man. A man who did what he could to feed his only daughter and his doting wife. Day in and day out, her parents would sell baked goods and odd items people would trade in return for them. Some days it was jewelry, others it was clothes, and sometimes...it was books. If a new book was found, her parents would bring it home for her to read.

You see, unlike most kids, she was educated at home. The schooling system founded by the Baekje family was wonderful, sure, but hard to work with when one had parents who traveled. And so young Chaeyoung would spend her nights buried in a book until her head would hurt and violet circles formed under her eyes.

Sleep could wait for the sake of knowledge. When she was old enough, Chaeyoung began to help her parents with their small stall. A stall that would later become a full on bakery built on one of the most crowded streets in the kingdom. Their goods would make them well known among the common people, but knowledge of their intelligent daughter traveled further than the delicious scents of their food.

A girl who had read thousands of books had made a traveling business into something to marvel at. But how?

She had no formal education, no trades, no interships. Nothing but a shelf of books and too much freetime. They called her crazy. A phony. A lie. She must've done something to help her parents out.

Sold herself? Begged someone? Something.

And then there was a small group who called her a prodigy.

Upon her sixteenth birthday, Chaeyoung was called upon by the Baekje family. If the rumors were to be believed, perhaps she could be useful. And if not, she'd be sent back home. Simple as that.

Hours of training and teachings became days. Days became months. And months became years. She learned everything they wanted her to and more. When she turned 18, she was appointed a royal advisor, claiming it was "their" honor to have someone so intelligent joining them.

Some still think she must've slept her way up. Or had her family bribe them. But Chaeyoung herself knows the truth. And that's what matters.

Side note: Random and planned romantic relationships are not welcome. I like relationships to happen naturally and unless we've got a past together (involved in the war with her, family friend, etc.), it's likely that Chaeyoung  won't act familiar with you.

I don't mind starting but I can't do it all the time. If the plot makes more sense for you to start, then please do. I don't mind waiting.
